Poor Starfire. I really loved how, despite all the abuse she suffered, she found the strength to fight back. Your story made me wonder if her cheerfulness on the show is a coping mechanism for her to forget all she had suffered.

A great one-shot. It had a nice simple narrative and the tone was beautiful. At times the dialogue gets a bit wooden but I think for the most part that's avoided and the fact that the past is in present while the present is in past tense just brings out the sense that the past has such a firm grip on Starfire that it is more real than reality.

As for her past, it was nice to see someone not throw away the actual origin when doing something like this (most of my knowledge of it comes from the origins in the comics but I assume the show is pretty much the same). It was also brilliant that this story can be made so dark and still touching, starting like a Starfire/Robin story but evolving past that by the end as even Robin can't really help Starfire with her past. It was sort of terrifying as well to see just how mad she went when something reminded her of her past.

The only real problem I have with this fic is the poem, the bold font sort of made it hard to concentrate on the rest of the narrative and while it was for the most part relevant and well-written it suffered from being split into sections so that it was hard to pick up rhythm and so on, the italisised words in the poem were sort of strange since I've never really seen bold used in a poem before but still.

Overall a good story, I just think it would have been better if the poem had been gathered into one place near the end or something like that. The somewhat circular narrative was beautiful and it was a great frozen moment in time. It helped understand the characters while not taking more than a day of their lives.

An eye-opening look into the past of everyone's favourite Tameranean. :D

I like that you incorporated elements from the original comic (the six year slavery, and Ryand'r), though if she remembers Blackfire treating her that way, why did Starfire greet her warmly in 'Sisters'? Still, doesn't change that it's a good quality one-shot.

However, the flashbacks did seem a little over-angsty... I understand what a horrible ordeal it must have been, and how betrayed she'd felt, but it felt a little...overplayed? It might just be me, but it might be something to think about.

The characters were all in-character (except for Starfire at the end, and that was justified and part of the plot). Perhaps someday, you could build on this idea for a fanfic?

(Sniff) Wow... just wow. I never thought about it like that... Anyway, nice work, it's quite emotional.

This is...such a wonderful story. Ever since watching the episode Go!, I've wanted to see more of the personality Starfire showed there. (Shame the episode fell apart. It could have been better.) It was nice to see some of her inner demons, and nicer still to see the way she has chosen to cope with them. The way she channels her anger, the way she's determined to fight those who would do harm, it's so much fun to see this side of Starfire. If Starfire ever got her own season, this is the type of season I hope she'd get: showing how horrible her life has been, and how fiercely she has fought the effects of what's happened to her and how, in the end, she was not dominated by her experiences. (And Teen Titans being a kids show, we'd never see Starfire's story told with the brutality it deserves.)

On the more prosaic side, you have good writing and grammar, and the poem is interesting too. Congradulations on such a wonderful fic!

Oh my gosh that was intense. I loved every minute of it. You could feel Starfire's raw desire to beat up that man and her captors. I was surprised to read something that was so...unlike Star, but it just seemed to be herself too in a way and i commend you on achieving that. Totally awesome, this is going to my favorite's!_~

Hey, look, I read it. I liked it, too, even though I don't know much about Teen Titans or the backstory behind Starfire. All I can say is that you had a few grammatical and spelling errors here and there, but other than that, it was really very good.

Wow...that was heavy, but awesome. Kinda depressing and really...ugh. I really liked how you've gone and given Starfire a whole new side and shown her in a different light. Great job on the imagery and the dialogue. Star's characterization was awesome. The flashbacks were all well done; excellent story. KEep up the good work, I can't wait for more TT fics!
