I'm a big fan of hurt!Dean (sorry, Dean!), so I knew this would be a fic for me. I like how you navigated the line between snarky, defiant Dean and the suffering he was subjected to - it never crossed over into "implausibly torture-resistant" territory.

And I like the backstory you created for Tom and his brothers looking for their missing daughter/sister - it added more depth to all three men and to how they dealt with their loss.

This was some mighty fine hurt!Dean and protective!Sam (my very, very favorite!) and I enjoyed it very much. Entirely in character, and quite intense and suspenseful, too. Gotta wonder what exactly Tom is going to do with his son, but I'm okay with not knowing.

It breaks my heart, how Dean just can't accept someone else taking care of him, protecting him, how he just can't comprehend that he's worth the kind of anger he saw in Sam. It's one of things that makes me love Dean so, and I loved how you drew it out in this story-subtle, but very strong.
