Reviews for Secrets
Kallios the Scholar chapter 1 . 11/30/2010
I always have the hardest time reviewing the things that I truly enjoy. Strange, isn't it? Well, I salute you for writing something that I've been struck speechless over. Please do some more if you can.
Aarg chapter 1 . 3/4/2010
i love this. in the book, she had asked hector to come and sit but he had refused so i'd always wondered if she was flirting with him. anyways, this is great!
Vylette chapter 1 . 2/12/2010
I loved this story. And I really love it that Helen is jealous of Andromache. And I ADORE the fact that Hector stays loyal and faithful to his wife.

I feel that Helen WOULD be jealous of Andromache. One reason is the line she said in the movie: I don't want a hero. I want a man who I can grow old with.

Well, Andromache has that man she can grow old with. Add to that, the same man is the hero and pillar of Troy. Her husband, Hector.
kitsune13 chapter 1 . 10/7/2008
I can't believe I've never reviewed this! I can't tell you how many times I've read it. Apparently I'm slacking off. I so enjoy this story. There's no doubt when you read the Iliad what Helen's hinting at when she speaks to Hector after he comes looking for Paris. And I'll admit, his response always gave me a bit of a smug feeling - especially when he goes directly to Andromache afterward, running to find her no less. You've managed to make Helen human and yet we, I at least, can still enjoy the fact she can't have what she really wants. She's not a villain but you didn't make her a victim either. We don't have to sympathize with her side of the story but we can enjoy it and even understand it. That's not easy to catch and you've caught it wonderfully. I always have fun reading your Troy stories. And fun is a great gift. Thank you.
24isover chapter 1 . 4/24/2008

i write for illusions chapter 1 . 3/20/2008
good dog-on story. you should keep writing.
Gaslight chapter 1 . 12/14/2007
So glad one of my reviewers had this in their faves. Follow the linkies and ye shall find...treasure!

Loved this! It perfectly illustrated what a vain, silly, stupid woman Helen was - but at the same time showed that vulnerable side which elicits just a *bit* of pity. The way she tallies up all her assets against Andromache is funny and sad at the same time. Helen, for all her advantages, will NEVER be contented. There is always something else shiny that she wants.

Great one-shot. You wrote it so completely. Brava.
HospitalHorror chapter 1 . 6/25/2007

Let's Play chapter 1 . 3/23/2007
Wow, that was just fantastic writing!

Seriously, your choice of words and breaking of

paragraphs was splendid! I am not usually one to

review so kindly but at the end of that one-shot

(which I'mn guessing this story is) I really honestly

felt something! Powerful stuff, seriously.
arianna chapter 1 . 3/16/2007
excellent! superb!

i was worried that this would be a helen/hector fic, which would just be so wrong!

lovely to see the hector/andromache relationship from a different viewpoint, and loving the way that even helen can see that there love is so much superior to hers and paris'. must say, i feel slightly sorry for her that she cant experience that kind of ultimate passion, but in the end i just love anything with hector and andromache. the way you described him looking at andromache just felt so real.

if i had an account this would go in my favourites. since i don't, i'll just hv 2 bookmark it in windows.

Ficker chapter 1 . 3/7/2007
I doubted whether to read this story or not, cause I don't usually like Helen as a character. Nonetheless, I decided to give it a try and, to say the truth, I'm glad I finally did it! I love the way you've described Helen's thoughts, revealing the spoilt and childish side of this woman and, at the same time, showing a little bit of her fears. That makes her a little more human.

In my opinion, she doesn't really like Hector as a man. It's more a matter of pride: getting what she wants and getting it fast, specially if we're talking about a powerful man.

Maybe you should try and develop the story a little bit. I know it's a one-shot, but it would be nice to have a wider vision about this.

Anyway, great work!
lostmypageagain chapter 1 . 2/18/2007

Aphrodite Incarnate chapter 1 . 2/16/2007
This is fantastic! You vividly convey Helen’s emotions, her lust and desire for Hector, so that she really comes alive as a person. I like also the way you describe her – with her being Aphrodite incarnate (ehm, that is, the real Aphrodite incarnate) all men should fall under her charm... The fact that Hector is the one man who doesn’t is what I think truly perturbs her and makes her long for him. Of course my interpretation could be wrong, but this is just what I think :) Your description of Hector, too, is quite good – I rather like him even more now, for loving his wife and not losing himself to the wanton’s allure. Anyway, this is definitely going on my favorites list. I look forward to reading more works of yours, and thanks for your review!
