Poor Max, it's one thing to teach a kid to drive a car. To check them off in flying a combat airframe? That's a whole other ball of wax. And of course, Rick, being a good friend and capitalizing on how to mess with Max all the while. :D

One thing stuck out to me, I'm not sure that "Sardonically" is fitting all that well in that passage. The tone that I was getting up until that was not coming across as 'mockingly derisive'. I don't know if you're wanting to emphasize more of Rick having an jovial moment with Maia, or the fact that Rick is enjoying the prospect of messing with Max. For the former, maybe 'smiled mischievously', if the latter perhaps 'smiled devilishly.'

Well, hot damn. Not an unreasonable reaction from Rick (which I hope that this is prior to "To the Stars" else Mr. Hunter there needs to get the dickens knocked into his skull and sent back to his gorram wife. But I digress.)

Glad to see you back to gift us with your craft. Tour ability to work well with these short snippts never ceases to amaze. Both in your skill, and in the conciseness of the drabbles. I know I can't for the life of me work with only 100(ish) words for a self contained scene. Heck I can barely make a scene work without going over 500.
