Reading these two one shots was interesting, its always nice to get different perspectives. I myself dont really see that elricest was likely, wen two siblings grow up together (usually) the very notion of intimacy is disgusting as well it shud be.

with roy and ed, my personal view was that people seemed to miss the outline of how adult edward is (manga) not sexually obviously cuz theres no such story line, but as a person. the basis of his character was not a child, not in any way shape or form had it been i'm sure the creator wud have referenced it more than that one time as a serious part of the story. so my perspective on ed and roy was that while roy, being the man he is and caring for edward, he wud view edward in the most platonic way possible and never have a sexualised idea of ed in his head on his own. but edward, as we know youth can be, wud not necessarily view things the same way plus his outlook on life was rather extreme considering his circumstances, but I doubt any sort of physical interaction betweem them cud be congenial and romantic, for me, I see it being clinical. because ed did not strike me once as being concerned with any sort of unnesessary interest in ppl, men or woman. I was a little surprised wen the creator randomly thru in two kids and a wife for him at the end cuz I pictured edward not settling down, hell, he had alchemy to reaquire. but alas, the creator needed to give him some warmth.

as far as both roy/ed and elricest are concerned, ur biggest 'problem' for lack of a better word, is that ur a little...naive? no, wrong word, maybe, blind, to the reasons ppl write different scenarios in fanfiction and feel they're justifiable. its cuz we've all experienced different things and seen disgusting things and people and some writers know full well that humans are not so black and white, no matter how wonderfully a character is portrayed, its no different than someone being easily misjudged irl. perhaps not in fanfiction cuz the story line is set but irl, just because its not 'right' doesnt mean they wont do it. siblings irl have relationships, twisted as it is and older men get involved with younger men and women, more often than not instigated by the youth wen its comsensual. try to remember that just because u havent seen it happen, doesnt mean its not happening. humans are very disgusting creatures. and they're very weak.

the royxed is pretty true and pretty illigal, but it is also intersting to read. you do, though, bring up a good point, roy would probably see it as a form of manipulation on ed.

You are aware that there are Roy/Ed fanfictions where both characters are completely themselves, but still compadable, correct? Not many, granted, but I'd prefer it if you didn't automatically decide that every Roy/Ed fangirl was an irresponsible writer, as you put it.

I don't think us other writers are being irresponsible. We don't have to keep the characters as themselves if we don't want to. We're not writing for money, we're writing for ourselves. That doesn't make us irresponsible at all. It's our story, we can do whatever we want to it.

Anyway, this story is actually, amazingly well-written and I admire your skill. There were virtually no errors in your story and everything was in order.

By the way, this is not meant to be a flame, and merely reminding you of what you forgot to mention, if you had intended not to offend anyone. If you thought that you wouldn't get flames though, that would stun me, and if I do get a reply, I'd like to know what public website you could possibly be posting this on if you considered it a flame. I'd be honored to see my own review up there.

I actually like this...this isn't quite Elricest, but it borders there very closely. In the first anime and movie, there seem to be more hints at something similar to what you painted, at the very least (no, I don't like or agree with Elricest, but even the line of trying to remember what his brother smelled like put me off). And I also found it a bit disturbing (and totally bogus-Al is definitely his own person, he has more personality than that) that the Al in the movie was trying to hard to be a carbon-copy of his brother. I mean, seriously, where's the character development?

Ahem. Sorry for the rant. Anyway, you did a good job tackling that particular issue. If you decide to come back to this, I would like to see something on RoyAi. Many people seem to place them in a romantic relationship, but honestly I can't see that happening. It's true they care about each other, and there is a strong bond of sorts, but it's not the kind that causes people to run off and get married. Their relationship seems so much darker (especially that little bit in the manga) and sadder. It's like their relationship is built on the guilt and pain they carry about Ishbal and Hawkeye's father's research. It's actually rather similar to the darkness present in Ed and Al's relationship (yes they love each other, but Ed and Al both carry around a lot of guilt and pain).

If you end up doing EdWin, though I'm curious to whether it'll be from the first anime or the manga (because they seem to have different connotations. EdWin in the first anime seemed closer to friendship).

When you say more realistic intimate situation, I assume you mean real life. I totally agree-RoyxEd is squicky and I don't understand why people seem so determined to shove two very non-compatible people in such horrid relationships. I read some of the comments here too, and people were protesting, "this doesn't feel real or canon at all" that's because NEITHER CHARACTER ARE ACTUALLY LIKE THAT! In fact, I even question the closeness of their relationship in canon, as there are actually very few scenes in which Roy and Ed directly interact with each other.

Ahem. Anyway, I applaud your effort, and this was indeed a chilling chapter to read.

I just want to say, you are an amazing writer. It's obvious you're talented, and it's cool that you use your skills to make a point about things that bother you. With that said, I swear this is not a flame, so please don't take it like that! It's just... I don't see how this is realistic. I mean, the reactions of the characters and their behavior is psychologically accurate, but considering the personalities already established by the chick (dunno her name) who created Full Metal Alchemist, it's also a little more than a bit OOC, at least on Roy's end. I know, you already warned about that, but as I said, it's more than a bit. Roy cares too much about Ed to do that to him, and I do mean he cares in a fatherly way. Even if he isn't the one who really drugged Ed, and technically gave Ed a choice, he'd neither have presented that choice in the first place, nor have done anything of that nature to Ed. Although, speaking of said blond, I give you props. You got him perfectly. : )

To be completely honest, if you wanted to write a fiction that would be realistic with this pairing, there would've been nothing resembling romance or even sexual gratification in general between Roy and Ed. Huh, I think I just managed to agree with you and disagree with you at the same time...

But I don't really understand why this pairing actually gets you angry, because I... kindasorta know a few people who are either in a relationship with someone under the age of consent, or who have been, and the opposite way around, and surprisingly, they're all pretty chill. I mean, I'm not encouraging that sort of stuff, but I'm just saying, they recycle and do their best not to contribute to the collection of roadkill America's managed to accumulate, and usually would never hurt an animal. Yeah... eh, who knows? You probably know the bad people, and I've probably stumbled upon the good ones! I just want you to know that not every person who dates someone with an actual age difference is a bad person.

People who write consensual RoyxEd or any yaoi for that matter don't see it as pedophilic or abusive at all. In many cases the dynamics of that sort of relationship are just the same as a legal heterosexual couple. The dominated person in the relationship (in FMA's case, Edward) is more or less portrayed as feminine, and a younger age helps that. A lot of people get interested in yaoi because they can choose whichever person is the dominant in the relationship and it doesn't feel forced - subsequently, though they usually don't realize it, they put themselves in the uke's position. It's a way of identifying with characters without having to resort to often cliche female counterparts, like, IMO, Riza Hawkeye. Love her to death, but for some reason I'm not keen on the Royai pairing.

This story was pretty well written and nicely psychological - but I'm sorry to say it didn't really feel canon or realistic at all. For one, I never understood -why- Roy liked Ed in the first place other than really pedophilic tendencies...your constantly referring to a sixteen year old as a 'child' didn't help that, only to aid your claims further. I've read -far- more RoyxEd fics that are both in-character and plausible. I'd like to take this time to mention a particularly good one called Tears and Rain by BeautifulFiction.

I understand your opinion completely and respect, but please take note of the much broader spectrum of fanfiction writing the next time you decide to slap a criminal label on the fangirls. D

So, I rather enjoyed this actually. Made me sick, as I believe was the intention, but still. Very enjoyable. You've got a poignant way with words.

And i must admit that the situation you described in royXed did not strike me as realistic or canon at all, except for the characterizations, especially ed. But whatever you wanted to accomplish with elricest, its been done with me and i don't believe i'll find a elricest fic to match yours.

This was really well written and I enjoyed reading it. It was a little different from what I expected, but the circumstances don't surprise me at all. After all, Al was always a little ... babyish and if he was human in the normal sphere, he'd probably be more clingy than he can be as a suit of armour.

I'm kind of a mix of disappointed and glad that it didn't go further than it did. I think that elricest is one of those pairings that I could never really understand (and I do enjoy my crack pairings) and Ed reciprocating Al's actions (in this situation especially) would probably make me nervous.

I agree to this observation of EdxRoy. It is very improbable. Roy is mostly a father figure to the Elric brothers. If something sexual were to ever happen, it'd be some sort of corruption on either end with abuse.
