Reviews for Winchester House
JaniceC678 chapter 2 . 1/23/2018
Rooting around for a Winchester House fic that I read years ago with the new movie coming out, I came across this one. Great job!
bhoney chapter 2 . 10/27/2009
Okay, I was a little confused as to why the last chapter was marked "Chapter 2" and this one was marked "Chapter 3." I really hope I didn't miss a chapter somewhere, cuz there are only 2, right?

Loved that the kid called the Shtriga a Dementor-a perfect little detail, a civilian seeing one for the first time probably would think that (and there are a lot of similarities, like that both feed on life force). Cool.

I was surprised to see Pa Bender there, since they weren't the ones to kill him, but I guess the cop used a Winchester gun. Great idea to have Dean rally the spirits of Pa's victims against him. It was really fun to see them come up against some of those people again. Very intense, action-packed chapter.

And I LOVE that you brought Michael in-and that you brought him in as a GOOD GUY! I liked this: ""Say's a lot about you that you only expect help from yourself, even now."

"Yeah, well there's Sammy. He's got my back," Dean replied after a moment staring at the whiteness and shapes around him.

"But you don't expect it. You're grateful for it, but since he left you, you don't count on it."" That's pretty accurate. And makes me sad for Dean. I was bummed that he didn't remember his visit with Michael, though. But I loved that you had the good ghosts help them. I think the powers of good (and actually acting good and helpful) aren't shown enough on the show. Good supernaturals, that's cool.

Great story-intense, suspenseful, good characterization, really original and interesting premise. I'm adding it to my favorites. I really, really hope you'll write more SPN fic for us soon. :) I've put you on alert.
bhoney chapter 1 . 10/27/2009
Okay, I've put off leaving a review for this, cuz I wanted to tell you everything I liked about it, but I'm short on time. But if I keep putting it off, I'll forget, so here goes.

I LOVE that you had the boys visit the Winchester House. I love the idea of that, and have been looking for a fic dealing with the WH for a while now. I was tickled to find yours. And you did a great job with it-some really inventive things I hadn't thought about, like the boys meeting up with a bunch of the spirits they've dispatched there. Great idea! It was fun to see some of those old villains again. And Dean's reaction to the tour was funny, too.

LOVED this: ""Sammy, you're playing Coldplay in my car?"he mumbled opening his eyes. "That's like... dude, I'll find a circle of unholy deafness."

"House rules, Dean," Sam said with a smirk. "Didn't you tell me that?"

"Yeah, but Coldplay." He'd have to get some sort of emo-repelling amulet. Visit that voodoo chick and make sure there were no lingering vibes. Have the car blessed and smudged with sage. He made a mental note to pick some out of the next herb garden where he saw it." ROTFL That was hilarious! Especially the circle of unholy deafness. *snickers* SO sounds like something Dean would say. Excellent characterization here. Loved it. Great job capturing the boys' voices.
Luxorien chapter 2 . 2/14/2007
I've been looking for a fic that tackles the Winchester house. Nicely done. I love fics with muggles, so to speak. Heh. Plus, Michael. Awesomest angle eva. He's so Dean's patron saint. Hard to do angels well, but you pulled it off pretty well.
stealthyone chapter 2 . 1/30/2007
Good finish to the story. Some nice suspense and humor here, and I really liked the section where Dean met Michael and got some good advice.

Favorite lines:

"I can touch you, but you can't touch me. And I've got a whole load of friends who'd like to meet you and your brother again. You know, we've got a sort of club going on. It's quite big now."

"Growing bigger every damn day," Sam growled at the skinwalker spirit.

Love Sam’s feistiness.

What had he forgotten? Blood on every step, Winchester blood... oh... calling the good spirits for their aid. He wasn't good at that. Not used to the concept.

It showed in his hesitant address. "Uh, anyone who'd like to help out here, Sam and I would appreciate it.I mean, if you're a good guy or gal. Don't mind... just... got a situation here, could really use your help. Please."

*g* Yeah, Dean would be uncomfortable in this situation. Love his awkward dialogue.

"Yeah, well, no one said happy ever afters had to be for everyone."

Oh, Dean. I think he really does feel this way, too, that happy ever afters aren’t for him. But he sure wants one for Sam.

"What? I've always wanted to be an urban legend. And this could make a pretty cool one. Two brothers who disappeared after saving lives in the Winchester House. Also called Winchester. Were they even real to start with? Hero stuff, Sammy. We'll get our own mention on Snopes."

*g* Of course Dean would love the idea of being an urban legend.

"Dean, are you going deaf?" Sam appeared looking around the corner to find him "You comin'?"

Dean made a decision and tucked the feather into his pocket as he turned to leave. "Yeah, Sam. I'm comin'."

That was something that was never going to change.

Nice ending, with Dean following Sam. And he’ll always go after Sam, no matter what. :)

Good story with an interesting premise, suspense, banter, and a nice dose of angst, too. :)
stealthyone chapter 1 . 1/30/2007
Interesting story, with the boys about to face off against old nemeses. I like the undercurrent of tension from Dean and Sam still not being quite right with each other.

Favorite lines:

"Well, no, I guess not, but I figured you had little enough brains as it was without possessed psychic shaman guy snacking on them," Dean replied and then half smirked as a thought occurred to him. "Guy might've had such slim pickin's he'd need seconds."

"You would've been safe then," Sam replied

LOL!

One day he was going to swing past Stanford again and look up that professor and give him a respectful black eye for all the touchy-feely crap he'd had to put up with over the last year or so.

*g*

It was like losing roots, whereas Jess had been like losing hope. He'd always felt Dean was lucky not to have to go through that until he realised with a bitter twist of comprehension that his brother didn't have it to lose.

Love those lines. Very angsty, and nicely written.

A damn sight easier to sleep in her rather than in a motel room with silence playing background to secrets that wouldn't shut the hell up.

Oh, *Dean.* He really does have a huge burden, thanks to dear old dad.
Ster1 chapter 2 . 1/29/2007
Thanks for posting the rest! I really enjoyed this story-great tie in with the Winchester house/rifle history. And Michael! Nice to know someone's looking out for Dean...
Ster1 chapter 1 . 1/28/2007
Oh, man-the boys really would be in trouble, with all the evil things they've killed! Interesting premise, great dialogue between the brothers, nice build up of suspense.

(The story's listed as "complete" but this chapter ends kind of abruptly. Is there more? Love to read the rest!)
