A word, though: so far as dialogue goes, often less is more. At one point a character "sentenced severely;" there is no need to fear "said" or "spoke."

You have accomplished the near-impossible: presented Finarfin as someone with a bit of spine, and done it believably. I also like the mention of Finrod's ring; it adds a new element of tragedy to the Finrod/ Amarië relationship. However, I think continuity takes precedence over reader comfort; many authors place a name list before or after the first chapter of their stories to orient the uninformed reader (this was actually how I learned all the Quenya names). Particularly since they are already using bits of Quenya (Finarfin even refers to his son by Finrod's Quenya name), I found that use of Sindarin names actually jars me more.

Thank you for this look at Finarfin and Finrod's resumed relationship! The replacement of the past and Middle-earth (Barahir's ring) with a future in Aman (the engagement ring) is rather elegant. I particularly like the ending, and the hint that Finrod will be surprised to find Amarie somewhat changed. Thanks!

This is like the one of the best Finrod fics I have ever read... I am now so jealous. I wish I could write like you. Sadly I am a better reader than writer. If you read my stories you will see why.

The first chapter was very good. I liked how you showed that the elves from Aman needed to grow up and be able to take care of themselves because in Valinor it was all peaceful for the most part.

The second chapter in a way could explain Galdriel's comment where she introduces herself and Celeborn to the Fellowship saying something about crossing the mountains East before the fall of Nargothrond and Gondolin. I also really liked the title for this chapter because the quote stands out to me out of basically the whole Silmarillion! As you can tell I am obssessed with Finrod stories.

Now how about one about Finrod and Amarie?

Finrod giving his ring to Barahir is canon, by the way. It's mentioned in the Sil that Beren was wearing the ring when he came to Nargothrond, to make sure he'd be recognized.

But the relationship between these two doesn't get much attention in fanfic, and this is a convincing take on it. Excellent work.
