Let me guess: the emergence of the super-powers of the HEROES is a side-effect of the magical scythe activating all latent Slayers. And, Buffy's ex-sweetheart, Riley Finn, notifies her of this because his new boss (Claire Bennett's adoptive father) is investigating Dawn Summers. Due to the fact that she's next on the Hindu doctor's genetic map.

Meanwhile, Mighty Maxine Manticore comes back to the early 21st century, with the help of Lt. "Stardoe" and the now fully-grown Jack "Cloneil" piloting that Ancient timeship. Why? Because, post-EMP Earth has been invaded by the Cylons. And, they have taken over Stargate Command!

The only way to remedy that is to change history by making sure the EMP never occurs. Because, it rendered even the Ancient super-cannon, at the South Pole, useless. And, according to the history books of Max's time, the EMP happened in New York City around November of 2007.
