Reviews for I'm Here to Help
El Grinder chapter 8 . 1/16
Hey there! I show up late to the party, but better late than never. I had avoided reading SM fanfic but the many recommendations for I'M HERE TO HELP convinced me to dive in, and what fortune, it kept me rapt through every chapter and almost every word.

At first I thought the format of mixing narrative with post-apocalyptic diary entries an indulgence and fanfic cliché to forgive, but as your MC navigates every stage of the conflict between the Senshi and the Dark Kingdom I appreciated that you refused to filter or water his perspective down. Your story trusts us readers to see his point of view while understanding that what led him and continues to drive him have warped his sense of morals and, to an extent, his ability to perceive what and those who surround him. He and you as the author showed due respect to the idea that several mortals would disagree with the entire planet embracing absolute monarchy even with Sailor Moon (and/or Usagi Tsukino in particular) at the helm. I would consider it a horror story when it dawns on someone unable to impact these events, and you show that even a person who could play both sides and kept a modicum of his sanity would face other specific horrors.

Special mention goes to [SPOILER] the confrontation between Sailor Pluto and Yukio at the end. It gave me vibes of Doctor Manhattan and Rorschach interacting after Veidt succeeded with his plan, and ended in a similar vein. Setsuna may have done less than turn Yukio into red paint on the snow, but she did wreck the last of his drive while also failing to see he headed to all this time. By the same token, Yukio fulfilling his endgame could have left the Earth worse off and I breathed easier when he did only what he should instead of everything he could. To have it another way invited possibilities that your story had spread itself too much to address with weight. [SPOILER]

As far as any weaknesses in your story: The Rei/Yukio dynamic served its purpose well, although Rei's doubts over their bond lingered over the story for far too long. I kept waiting for the moment when her believing (or contemplating to believe) his story would lead her into conflict with the other Senshi or her family. That Yukio would consider her a lynchpin of sorts during his odyssey tracked fine with his history of conflict with the Sailor Mars he knew (quite a shock to lay unto him another layer of tragedy) given his sanity slippage and the path his life took. Rei's refusing to believe or reject his account for chapters robbed her of such agency and reminded us that we would learn the MC's story at the expense even of developing the particular Senshi you chose to follow. Also, I would've appreciated the other Outer Senshi having more of an impact, in particular homegirl Sailor Uranus, but that has nothing to do with what you crafted here.

Extra kudos to the bit bit at the end of chapter 7 with the Senshi and tv mascots. I believe I have yet to understand the gist of it, but given what you provided us for several solid chapters, I just want to go back and re-read to see what it adds to your story.

Haters should keep their hate in the late 90's, where they cannot stop anyone from enjoying I'M HERE TO HELP. Feel proud for your contribution to the SM fandom, as ten or twenty years will pass and as long as exists, people will still find the joy and heartbreak you worked hard to infuse here. What better reward for a writer might there be?

Keep writing!

This was a very interesting story, one of the best SM-fics I've read. No-one was OOC, and everyone had understandable viewpoints. You did particularly well with the Youma - they *are* non-human, so they *shouldn't* have human morals.

I'm very interested in what Emerald's crystal was, what happened during the Great Ice, and all the extra information you didn't include, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could PM me about it.

Either way, 10/10 for the story!

Interesting to see Jupiter's thoughts on Emerald.
Very amused by his inability to let the speech pass him by.

'Rei-chan' was hilarious.
fireball900 chapter 2 . 8/20/2017
Love how the protagonist dismisses the reasoning given behind the Moon Royalty ruling earth, especially because that was what i always thought too.
fireball900 chapter 1 . 8/20/2017
My first time reading this, and I'm already liking this, and how Emerald is shaping up as a character.
Glad you decided to re-archive this.

That conversation between Mars and Jupiter within Venus' earshot is one of my personal highlights
Androzani84 chapter 1 . 8/1/2017
Have to say, there's a reason I love this fic. There's always an anti-hero aware of a greater threat that the heroes don't know about. And I've always found those types of characters more enjoyable. Emerald is my kind of guy
