Anyways, I enjoyed the approach you took to the one-shot; unlike some who think they have to shove two characters together for life, you made everything light-hearted and natural between the two. Plus the penny thing I really liked; thought it was adorable.

I'm really happy to see that you're writing again, I've always enjoyed reading the stuff you've always conviently left on the coffee table or rocking chair (well, when it was in the room). I loved the idea of the tradition. And I also liked that it was about New Year's but wasn't the same 'kiss at midnight' type thing that everyone else writes around this time of year. Actually, I have never heard of the tradition of wishing with a coin at all, but I do like it very much.
