Your story broke my heart. Despite it ended happily but-... but why? Why did they have to separate that way? Why it has to take fourteen years for Danny and his daughter to finally be able to reunite? Really, it's relieved as well as heart wrenching :'(

Good story though, thank you for sharing :)

p.s. out of curiosity. The one placing the flowers on the last part, was it Danny as a ghost?
