I'm so glad it DIDN'T happen this way. Dean is such a larger-than-life presence that I hate to think of him gone. But I like that he's there for his brother.

Your song lyrics at the beginning of each chapter are awesome, and I love the title of chapter 5 - Bleak Midwinter - so evocative (and a beautiful Christmas carol, too; one of my favs.)

Thanks for bringing Dean back. No Dean and I about fell apart crying. As did Sam. Glad the nun is going to watch over Dean's grave. (gah! hate that thought!)

But you're right. having them together, traveling to a new gig, is a good way as any to end. Dean can manifest and help Sam somewhat, possibly get stronger, and pray that it will be many, many years before Sam has to put him out. VERY sad, but well written story.

Love how the amulet was a protective symbol.

The part where talking about how Sam's life is an open book, but Dean was only what he allowed Sam to see - that is SO Dean. Like how Dean can talk with Sam. Since can't have Dean there (being dead) this is better than nothing.

hahahahaha! love the nun! And the parts of Dean's spirit with Sam was sweet and silly at the same time - some of it like older brother stuff, and some... like Dean wants Sam to start to get over his death.
That entire paragraph talking about Dean giving him visions of naked nun, and about Dean not wanting to stay dead - or hitting on her if he wasn't... so freaking hilarious.

Love how Dean helped Sam put Baby back together. Wow, all those extra parts and maxing out all those credit cards! She's expensive... and worth it.

And it hurts knowing Dean's spirit is there with Sam, in Baby. But.. he's back to hunting.

Sam is going to hunt. Somehow, it seems ironic and oh, so painful.
