I favorited this story like 3 years ago and just reread it. I now remember why I loved it so much. Thanks for keeping it alive on this site.

I LOVE EDGAR ALLEN POE! I literally squealed when Remus started quoting the Tell-Tale Heart. Its one of my favorites, as is this story.
Potterhead5678 chapter 10 . 5/29/2012
Ugh, this fanfic is just so beautiful. My heart hurts too much to continue so ill read a bit later when I'm more calm. Sirius is one of my most loved characters and id probably go a far as saying he's my favorite character if it wasn't for Luna or Snape. I just loved the fact you've manged to capture his young self so well and given him a girl that I deem worthy. I also love the Lucy/Remus pairing. Can't wait to find out how it all ends! You're an amazing author! I've never felt the need to review something like this but I find this story absolutely wonderful. Never give up writing!
kaitie chapter 20 . 3/20/2012
oops. forgot to say one thing. it really astounded me how you made rebecca admire bellatrix for her conviction in her beliefs. i had never thought of it that way before, but you're absolutely right. just that point there, it twisted the whole way i looked at rebecca when i was reading. before i was often annoyed at her lack of conviction and how flitty she was (though she was an incredible character - though i didn't like her at first you still wrote her amazingly) but then i realized that she genuinely does have beliefs. she never talked about what she believed, per say, when she talked about herself. i just am amazed at this whole story and if you want to, one day i'm absolutely certain you will be an incredible best-selling author. you should definitely post the name of your book on here when that happens, cause i'm positive everyone who's read this story will rush to buy it. thank you for publishing this on here so that we can all read a story this great.
Binka Fudge chapter 31 . 3/10/2011
I've thoroughly enjoyed reading this story, despite all the heartache the characters went through. I felt everything along with them and thats what made it worth it for me. It might sound ridiculous, but I held on to the hope that it would all work out Ok in the end, even though we know from canon that the Potters died, Sirius went to Azkaban and Remus was left alone. At one point someone, I think it was Luke, said that Dumbledore was using Rebecca and Hunter and she knew it and was taking advantage of this to stay safe. Well, when Sirius woke in the hospital wing and was told Hunter had been killed, I did wonder if Dumbledore had told everyone that and put the boy into hiding, either because he didn't think Rebecca was capable of looking after him, or because he'd found out she was planning to leave before he could be used as a tool in the war, or to take the death eaters off Hunters trail and allow Rebecca to join him after acting depressed and implying that she'd killed herself. That last one sounds harsh, but she is a Slytherin and would do anything to protect that little boy, even if it meant leaving Sirius and her new friends behind. I'd really like to believe that this happened, not only because it seems such a waste to kill off two perfectly good OC's, but also because I can't stand the thught of them getting so far only to fail. Not to mention that Dumbledore always seems to have a trick up his sleave. I've no doubt that Dumbledore has it in him to let Rebecca think Hunter ded to save the lives of the rest of the wizarding world, I mean look what he did to Harry. And this story would still work with canon if Hunter survived, I mean we didn't see much evidence of Vampires in JKR's battles, so perhaps they were convinced to at least stay nutral if not work against Voldemort. Sorry for all the rambling, but hey, at least you know you've made me think, always a worthy goal. Thanks for sharing such a beautifully written story and keep up the goodwrk.
Pier in the Sky chapter 31 . 1/29/2011
Absolutely break-taking story. Everything about it was amazing and drew you into the plot, into the story to make you feel like you were part of it. Your portrayal of the canon characters were to the t. Everything was believable. Your OC's were sheer perfection, and, yes, they were far from perfection and that is what made it all the more better. Rebecca had a life-time of betrayal and hurt, I couldn't help but feeling a connection to her. No I haven't been through everything she's been through but I know what it feels like to have the ones you love the most betray you. It made me connect to her like no other OC I have come across. Hunter made me smile whenever he talked. Such a young, mature young man that has been through way to much then he should have at his age. Luke may not have been in the story as much as I would've liked him but he played a huge role and the small amount he was in the story but you made us like him. I have to say that I felt like I was drawn more to Lucy then all of the other characters. Her love for her friends, her strong beliefs, she never backed down and I loved her for that.

This is over all an exceptional story that I will probably read over and over again. Thank you for sharing this incredible journey with us.
xfszkandicm chapter 31 . 8/31/2010
At first I really had to force myself to reading the first 10, 20 chapters, but then I really became attached to all those characters like Lucy, Rebecca and especially Hunter.

Great story! :D
chemistrygoddess chapter 31 . 6/6/2010
This was absolutely heart wrenching. Not that it wasn't good, on the contrary it was very well written with the right amounts of humor, romance, and tragedy with an intriguing plot, hell I read it in one day. By the end I honestly cried for each of the main characters. I definitely cried most for Hunter though, somehow I knew once he was gone Rebecca would follow, it just seemed right despite being so incredibly sad. I did love Hunter though and I hate that he was so innocent and young and died, it broke my heart. I thought at times Cole's back story could have been told better as I had to piece it together, but I guess it makes sense how it was told as it was from Sirius' point of view. However, because of this the epilogue did throw me off a little, even if it offered a bit more closure. The only thing I really wanted more of was a better intro. for Luke since I feel like he just sort of appeared even though he was supposed to be sort of like Lucy was to Sirius. Overall, very good story though, and now I can't stop crying.
Lupin Bean chapter 31 . 6/9/2009
Dear Author,

So many emotions are turmulously flooding through my bloodstream like a heroin injection, I can barely think of where to begin. Sadness is a major factor, by the way this story ended, and, of course, that it did, in fact, come to a close.

I spent two days rubbing noses with my computer screen, not wanting to look away, and only being dragged out by my priorities. It was a such an amazing story for me to read-the best I've ever read on . The feelings and emotions you evoked were priceless. It had aboslutely everything. Based on a rich plot and layered with pounds of delicious details. As I delved further into the story, I decided I would not review until the very end, determined on making myself heard.

You have the makings of a best-selling author. Who am I to say such things? Why, hello, my name is Avid Reader-nice to meet you.

Let me go into detail: Rebecca Cole was a very intriguing character. The way she was introduced was a bit misleading, almost like she was going to be insignificant. But then, she spun around to be a leading character. A wonderful trick that you used that I envy was because she was so mysterious, and you had to keep reading to rub off a bit of her tough exterior everytime. She was fabulous.

Sirius was exactly as I imagined him: carefree but serious, naive but experienced, ignorant but intelligent, tough but caring, stoic but emotional, handsome yet...handsome. A bundle of oximorons and the perfect blend of quirky characteristics.

Hunter was a loveable character, fascinating because of his problem, how he handled it, his tender age, and the people who he trusted. How the people he trusted acted around him was a judge of his character. No one could think baly of the little 'halfie', for his personality was nothing more than a mischevious toddler-not a bloodsucking, spellcasting wizard-vampire. That's what he really was, no? But those words seem so foreign when describing Hunter. He was amazing.

Lily was a bit fiery for my taste, a dash too stubborn and angry. But as the story wore on, I started to like her, as if she were a true person, and I realized why she was so hard-headed. She lashed out at him unexpectedly for little things. Such as the 'Heaving Bodices' incident. His innocent remark, joking and friendly, caused her to bite back rather harshly. But the way she angrily ordered about Sirius was amzusing, yet in a way, motherly. She only cared for his well-being in her advice-the mother he never had.

Lucy was a golden character-the ideal best friend. Full of laughs and eccentric characteristics, she was your one character where the possibilities were endless. I loved her to death-literally, I suppose.

Remus was also a mirror image of my opinion of him. Serious, stable, sturdy, strong, and smart-but not the pushover others made him out to be. He was just as prone to anger or annoyance as anyone else, but quicker to forgive others and more sensible than his juvenile, though loveable, friends.

James. Ah, James. Goofy, handsome, funny, kind, stubborn, sensitive...everything. Throw anything into that cake, he'll take it and stir it in phenomenally. The way he cared for Lily but stayed true to the rest of his friends, as equally as possible, was admirable and cute. I wish he would have stuck up for Sirius at least one of the times that Lily irrationally verbally attacked him, but I suppose it couldn't be helped. That, of course, was the only flaw in his character.

Luke, Bellatrix, Dumbledore. Not the protagonists, but still notable. Luke was a crowd pleaser, and I, for one, was very pleased in his role. He was so kind and caring towards Rebecca, but at the same time, knew where he stood. Bellatrix was...a bitch, for lack of a better word. My first profanity in this review, I apologize for that. Her actions angered me beyond belief, and I still have nightmares of the scene where Rebecca confronted Alex-the part where she asked him if anyone had ever 'threatened' to run a knife up and down her spine until she cracked. It made me shudder with horror and disgust, but was believeable due to the torturous incidents Bellatrix was known for. And the way you made Rebecca ADMIRE Bellatrix for her sheer belief and determination was astounding but perfectly logical. I loved that scene. Bellatrix maimed Rebecca beyond comprehension, but Becca remained admiring of the intensity of Bellatrix's character. I thought that that was incredible and so interesting. It was scary, the tricks and twists you added to make the story surprsingly delightful, terrifying-perfect. However, Dumbledore, I must say, irked me a bit. The way Luke described him as not caring for Becca or Hunter's welfare and simply using him saddened me. Dumbledore was always a character I held in high esteem in Rowling's novels, but in yours he was downplayed. I wish that was different, but I suppose that, too, couldn't be helped. Author's prerogative, right?

The last two chapters of your story were the best out of the lot. So packed with emotion-I was choking on my unshed tears, trying to hold them at bay when I discovered all had died. It was horrible, and Ic ouldn't keep that back. 'Golden girl' Lucy, Lily, James, Sirius, Hunter, Rebecca-five murdered, one committed suicide, which might as well have been murder due to the events that lead her to it. They were heartwrenching and beautiful, and I love how Lucy and Remus were the ones to bid the final farewell to the readers. I barely have words to explain one tenth of the emotion and passion I drew from your story.

As my review comes to an end, my fingers rest, weak, thinking of what to say next. All I CAN say, or rather, ask, is that you keep writing. Publish a book one day, and drop me a line. I will be a huge fan. I plan to read your other work and I can only hope that it is as meaningful and full to brim with depth, as this one was. Your prose is magnificent, and all I can say is that you read this review, and remember it. Know that you have one person who was really inspired and awestruck by this story. I hope you take my praise within the highest regard, for I put a lot of thought into this review. I hope you appreciate it like I appreciate your words.

Thank you -un mil veces-for your time and your story.

Alina.

An incredible story so far.

I keep reading a bit every day and it is really a good one. It's a very original idea to make it from Sirius point of view.
