ApolloXandos chapter 17 . 2/11/2019 This is good. I enjoyed it, including the ending. The boys are back together, but Hephaistion has grown in the process, which is what any good story should accomplish: the characters are in a different place by the end than they were at the beginning. |
ApolloXandos chapter 8 . 2/10/2019 I like both how you portray Bagoas as well as getting Hephaistion to rethink women. When I write him, I try not to portray him as the classic bitchy gay guy who hates or looks down on women. |
Righttolove chapter 17 . 11/11/2017 Once again, I have enjoyed this story. Posting to my favorites list. |
Guest chapter 17 . 8/5/2016 omg this was perfection! you informed yourself well and the search for everything you put into this story must have taken so long but you did amazing. it fit so well. and i loved all your characters. the way you described alexander was impressive. you were also the first who dealt with him being somewhat unstable/his demons and his depression and self-loathing thoughts. i read that that came quite close to how he were so i was super happy to finally read it in a fanfic too! then to hephaistion. amazing again! his despair too. he wanted to help so badly and he wanted to do the right thing but everything was difficult and how in the end he did his best and they found to each other again. his and alexanders interactions and their thoughts about each other. i loved that! then on to the other characters, esp thais and roxanna in some part too. i say some part because she didnt play as big a role as thais. but damn you gave those two women such great personalities. im so thankful that you made them likeable. as a hephaistion/alexander story it is always so easy to make the reader dispise the women that are there or let the hatred of the author shine through but no you gave them their own clever mind. actually you did that to everyone. the povs were different each time according to each character. that really is impressive. and every character had their own soul their own motivation and reasoning and it fit! so. well! so thanks a lot for writing and sharing this. i know im late but i hope you read this still so you know of another person who loved this as much! im gonna save it as a fav on my phone to reread in the near future. oh and one last thing. your writing style. amaaaazing! you hear me? it felt so real and perfect for that time! you just did a wonderful job with everything. best regards and a have a nice day dear (: |
Tendrebeatrice chapter 17 . 10/4/2015 I would like to thank you for this most remarkable story, everything is perfect ! The psychology of the main characters is both very deep and subtle. But I feel a bit sad about Hephaistion, always stuck with his unfathomable love for Alexander, sad because the latter is quite egotistic and not really caring . . . May be it even pleases Hephaistion . . . |
Thessalonike chapter 17 . 11/2/2011 This is a beautiful gem of a story. Your writing is wonderful, engrossing, richly-detailed, and truly brought me into the historical time period. I am a bit of an Alexander buff, have always found the relationship with Hephaistion to be utterly romantic. And have always really enjoyed the side-relationship of Ptolemy and Thais that the histories mention. I really loved the way you brought both relationships and the characters involved, especially Thais, to life. This one will go into my favorites. The best Alexander fic I have read in a long while and of such length I feel completely spoiled. |
8bitBatman chapter 17 . 12/11/2010 T'is a rather outdated review, as i've only just stumbled upon this beautiful story (and read it through in a single day!). It's among the best fiction i've read on this site - certainly under this archive! Alexander and Hephaestion are the best pairing in the world - Romeo has nothing on the king! I love the way you address the different sort of loves they had - everything must have been simpler then, a lot more liberal. Modern times could definitely benefit from looking back at them! Thanks again for supplying one of the finest online stories i've had the pleasure of reading, looking forward to your next fiction! M x |
Mistress of Nightmares chapter 17 . 5/29/2010 So I stayed up way too late like 4 nights in a row to read this and it was completely worth it - that was awesome. Ha ha. Your characterizations stay so true to the time and are really individual - Thais was especially good since there's so little about her out there. Plus the academic conversations were really well done, it was like a lesson at the same time. lol But of course, Alexander and Hephaestion were the best part, and the ending was perfect. 3 Awesome fic, it’s nice to read something so thoroughly thought out and interesting. :) |
Luthien Galathil chapter 17 . 4/25/2010 I'm so crap at reviews, but that just left me with a lovely feeling at the end. It was so intricate and tightly woven, a really great story. And now I'm off to read some more of your stories, I'm never going to get to sleep tonight! |
Angel chapter 17 . 9/5/2008 This was a good story. I admire your style of writing! So fluent and interesting to read. |
Evave2 chapter 17 . 8/10/2008 Well-done, complex characterizations kept this story going into areas I was unsure of. I LIKED that I didn't know where you were going to end to story. As other reviewers noted, Thais and Ptolemy storyline really added to the story, they weren't just filler. They were ANOTHER complex relationship in which one character (in this case Ptolemy) had the "hand" in the relationship but in the end had to make the first move to get back the "desired beloved" after a faux-pas (Ptolemy behaving in a way that pushed Thais away: he was so pleased Alexander had given Adhita to him that he hadn't considered what it would do to his relationship with Thais). I enjoyed that what he needed from Thais was what what Alexander needed from Hephaistion: an understanding heart. The story was about different "love combinations" and Ara/Bagoas made me happy TOO. Not much really "happens" in the story but the characterizations really sparkle. I kept hoping you could have Alexander request Ara as a dancer to return with him and that would keep Bagoas happy; I liked that Alexander gave Bagoas his own household. I enjoyed that Alexander and Hephaistion discussed Bagoas' situation and that it was just a mark of respect from the two that they did. These were all adult people living long-ago that were understandable in their behavior/psychology. I even appreciated Oxyartus sending somebody to spy on Hephaistion to protect his daughter's interests. That was believable to me. Thank you for this intricate well-thought out story. Eva |
Moonlight chapter 17 . 2/22/2008 An exelante storie, you are very talanted. I really don't know what to say but I hope you continnue writing. |
jubies chapter 17 . 8/23/2007 I really enjoyed this fic. It had depth, there were some parts where i just wanted to scream and yell THANK YOU! It was so awesome. I've been hunting down Alexander/H fics all over the place, And i think this one was a price! Congrats! *muah* And good luck on starting you next one! |
Charcharchar chapter 17 . 7/4/2007 That was gorgeous. I loved it. V. big fan of yours in general though... |
