Reviews for The Truth About Dysfunction
l.h.o.o.q chapter 1 . 2/9/2017
I'm glad that I got to read this older piece. Constructive criticism would seem a bit odd now, since it's about ten years later, and I'm sure you've grown so much, but it was really fun (for lack of a better word.) I think HA was kind of funny with the smoothies, kind of a clever thing for a kid's show. But, yeah, now Helga's older, like us (well, at this point much younger than us, you get it,) and knows what those smoothies are about.

I like how she tries to categorize her feelings, starting in a very teenage essay way, using the dictionary. Her wanting-to-love and hate relationship for Olga is portrayed well. Olga does love her little sister. I liked the mention/hint of her graduating from childhood things like trophies to awards that adults can win. Helga's always been conflicted, and I think that comes across nicely in the story, from the extreme of her being disgusted, thinking their totally f'ed in the head, to loving them no matter what. And, aw, she's even grown in the end. Thanks for sharing!

I love this. It as so ... discriptive, emotional, truthful, so real? I can't give it a single name if any name will truely fit.

It was well put, the way Helga discribed it all. It is good for a one-shot. It has potential for a longer story. It would be hard to create but with this I can already tell you're a truely great writer.

I admire this work. I didn't see any flaws. If you want critism though, all I can say is maybe you can add a bit more on the friends.

maybe for a second chapter. It was great though and well done. I don't have anything to say about grammar or flow or anything. It was overall good.

I like the whole "Reviews are nice, constructive criticism is nice, and flames are annoying-but feel free."

If this is your first ever fanfic, I applaud you on not being greedy with reviews and not really caring about flames. I hope it stays that way. I was once caught up on it. Shame because I don't have my own PC to write anymore.

Keep writing, I'd like to see more of your work.

Pretty cool analysis of Helga's family, and it's very touching how she still loves them. Actually, once in a while Bob and Miriam had shown interest and concern for her; in Thanksgiving, when Helga left the house, Miriam almost drove crazy the Police's operator and Bob was about to go search for Helga in a tank! And, when Miriam doesn't have someone looking for her, and needs to be in control, she had been a pretty competent person, like when she won the mechanical bull's competition so she and Helga could pay for the car repairments, or when she covered Bob in his job, and, even if enjoying it, quit so she could be with Helga.

Keep the good writing.
