That felt awkward to me, but if it was 'being' instead of 'be', I think the sentence would flow better.

I like this. I'm a big fan of Evin/Miri fics, I think I need to write one myself someday. I especially liked that moment at the end, dramatic pause is so effective and the quick turn around made me laugh!
