I loved this! It made me feel sorry for Jayne, but it was pretty clear who she belonged with. I'm sad that this is over, I liked cowboy Mal.

And seriously with the passing of the ship to Zoe? Tears. Real, true tears.

And then Mal and River at the end. More tears.

And I have two chapters left! Can't wait to see what's next.

I have been wanting a little Jayne/River/Mal triangle and this looks promising! Although I know who she picks because I am stupid and read the reviews, it's ok. Still looking forward to reading how the story ends.

I hate you...sob...I hate you for making me like a Mal/River story. I hate you for making me cry like a baby. And I hate that I don't know what happened with Jayne in the end. But most of I hate you because it's 2:51 in the morning and now I still have to watch the fanvid...which got me here in the first place. Oh, and I hate that I'm adding yet another brilliant author to my favorites list. Sob. Yawn. Curse.

This was so sweet! I love that River chose Mal - though I'd have liked Inara's death to be elaborated on (like, early on to show how it's not just a replacement for her). The writing is awesome regardless! Thanks so much for publishing!

I loved it! I can't say i'm a big fan of Jayne and i dunno if i would put them together but you did it in a way that had me do a double take and rethink the pairing! Very wonderfuly written. I'm so glad that Mal and River ended up together. The pairing is addictive

Wow I think I'm in love with this story...really... I'm not even a mal/river "fan" I'm much more a Rayne person but this was pure heaven! The way you captured the characters was exceptionally skillful. Your Jayne was spot on. I love the fantasy Jayne we Rayne fans all flock to but yours was straight out of the show. The most in character version of him I have seen. Mal also jumped off the screen so much as I read I could hear him in my mind with no effort as well. Your river, while not the exact character from the show, was definitely a more grown up and put together version as she well could have become had the show continued. Definitely what she could have been after the healing process kicked in more. The stories plot was well thought out. As well as managing to be totally plausible which is difficult to do with that pairing. Great great job.

I read this ages ago but never reviewed so thought I'd leave a comment now just to say that I loved the story, it was really good.

I'm not into River & Mal (why would anyone be when he's so obviously into Inara?) so I would never have read this story of its own accord, but I came to it from your video link. The video was so good and it featured Jayne, so I was intrigued, followed the link and read it. So glad I did!

Of course I was sad that River chose Mal over Jayne, I wouldn't have ;) ha ha but it was still good and believable.

However, your story listing has this down as River & Mal, I honestly think you should try changing it to something like River & Mal/Jayne in order to attract more readers because this is definitely Jayne heavy as well, even if he doesn't get the girl. Plus, it keeps people guessing rather than knowing from the outset ;)

This is wonderfully written.

I admit that I was hoping that all three characters would stay together. Jayne's rough and tumble style didn't soften in the least, but he still managed to be endearing and sincere. Mal's tendency to cut himself off from hurt (but not before beating the crap out of somebody) was so true to the character we see in Firefly that there's no mistaking how much he felt for River. I'm glad I read this story, and will definitely be adding it to my list of favorites.
