Awwww. Wonderful story. I like the rewrite. Mac's engagement present to Harm was priceless.

I think the shrink would use the word torture & the patient would try to downplay it. I also think Harm would not be so introspective. He'd blame everything on the torture & the physical ramifications. He'd rail about not being able to fly. It would take multiple sessions for him to spill that this was about Mac & him complicated feelings for her. But your short cut makes for a more readable story, I guess.
