Getting to this story over a decade too late but... I’m still glad I found it! I liked your take on the “one of them’s turned inanimate and/or nonverbal” trope, it felt somehow different.

Some constructive ideas (not that it matters since this was so long ago)... Kikyo was quite one-dimensional and I got pretty lost during the chapters where she was meant to be blackmailing someone. I could follow the first 80% of the story just fine but then got confused from the “Miroku got drunk and spilled the beans” onwards. And the ending did feel quite forced, I’m not sure why that playground confession needed to be aired since it wouldn’t really change public opinion about a serial killer (and I’m confused about that too).

All of that aside, I enjoyed reading this!

I liked the pacing of this story. Originally I was worried it might turn out a bit strange with the doll but you made it work!

Good story! You were apologizing in the beginning that it might be too weird, but deducing from the title and summary that Inuyasha was cursed as a doll is what sucked me in. I've read a few 'transformed into a dog' stories, but never a doll before. What an emotional roller coaster with Kikyou in the first few chapters! First she's totally evil, then at Christmas I thought okay she was actually being nice for a change, and then when she threw him over the bridge! Evil bitch got what was coming to her in the end. Karma. The ending was starting to seem a little rushed but then your a/n in the last chapter explained why. Even though that was several years ago now I'm still sorry you had to deal with a loss like that while trying to work on your story (not that it would have been better to deal with a loss in the family any other time) and I completely understand why it threw you off your game. I commend you for at least wrapping up the story instead of leaving it unfinished, and I think all in all the ending turned out well. I also thought it was an interesting twist to have Inuyasha be legitimately evil at first, in the before time of the long long ago. He's been a playboy and heart breaker in plenty of fics, but not a murderer too often, I don't think. But for this story, it made sense. He actually deserved his curse and needed to learn his lesson, instead of just being a victim. If he were just a victim cursed by an evil witch, then he wouldn't have been able to break the curse himself as he did. Things shouldn't be *too* bad for him and Kagome here on out. They, meaning the world at large, can't really hold it against him for how he used to be 500 years ago. Sure if you want to get technical then one could argue there's no statute of limitations on murder, but on the other hand one could also argue that five centuries locked in an inanimate object is time served. What made the public fear him, as you explained, was that they thought he was *still* a monster, and Kagome his latest victim. That's just stupid. They also all know he was a doll, now, and duh, he had to regain his heart and fall in love in order to break the curse, so how could he still be a murderer? But people fall for whatever the media pushes. Yay for Sango clearing things up! Inuyasha will never get back to exactly how he used to be in the public eye, but like he really wants all those other women fawning all over him, anyway. Surely he can help Sesshoumaru out with *his* business somehow or another, and that's assuming he even lost everything when he probably still has plenty of money in the bank and in the stock market and such. Now I'm rambling, LOL. It was a bizarre, unique story, and I adored it. Good job!
