usually mostly innocent chapter 1 . 7/7/2009 That was a nice read. I liked the way you switched things up with the spindle and the kiss. It was original, not to mention a good idea. The last line of the story was definitely my favorite - perfect.:) In ways, though, bits of the story kind of reminded me of Cameron Dokey's retelling of Sleeping Beauty (the little-known cousin, over-protective mom, dad convincing mom to let the princess leave the castle, going out the kitchen door and exploring the gardens before anything else...). Is that what gave you the idea? Anyway, it was nice little story overall, and I enjoyed reading. Thanks for posting it! |
sojlanits chapter 1 . 5/10/2008 I really liked your story, although I thought it was too much to add Julian into this story. There is one thing I've always hated about Sleeping Beauty and that is that you just can't get kissed by a total stranger and immediately fall in love. Anyway, this is a really great story and I hope you keep on writing more:) |
Lady Knight Keladry chapter 1 . 3/20/2008 that last line was awesome! the story is good, so introverted. nicholas always annoyed me, anyway. julian seems like a good character. aren't protective parents just the worst? |
Maroonaroo Mangaree chapter 1 . 9/13/2007 Ohh! I wish there were more reviews for this! This was a really refreshing read from fanfiction. These original characters are absolutely wonderful to read about And the ending was very cute! This story is one that I will remember for a long, long time ) |
Ai102 chapter 1 . 7/6/2007 I like This version. |
Hx2 chapter 1 . 1/7/2007 Yours is one of the best fairytales ever compiled. This version of sleeping beauty is even better than the alternate gender bias of beauty and the beast which targets males as the damsels in distress. Or disneys little mermaid which Ariel always gets so far on her objective to save her friends/family and ends up failing and having to get saved as the damsel in distress. This one targets no gender based group. And Lucy actually did most of the work to save herself and her kingdom! Now that's what I would call a leader. Rather than princess peach (check the video game section under Mario) who's always getting into trouble, and isn't always there for her kingdom. This is without all of the bias of the so-called bias free book, politically correct bedtime stories. Though of course, he is politically correct, even though not socially correct (or even sometimes socially appropriate) Although I don't exactly like this story (I don't really like fairy tales as whole) It is an extreme work of art. It is good enough to be published, and just so you know, disney doesn't own sleeping beauty, they only own their own version of it. You could try to get an adult to help. I've seen a lot of astounding works better than yours, but none have ever been finished. And yours is just as good as some of the chapter books I've read, except for Harry Potter, and it is definitely better than the Outsiders. |
FaylinnNorse chapter 1 . 8/30/2006 This is awesome! I love it! I didn't read it before, because it was so long for being just one chapter, though I see now that I should have. At first, I didn't think I could accept her not being with Nicolas, but I quickly learned to love Julian way better. Anyway, this is really great! |
Backroads chapter 1 . 8/30/2006 This is an absolute gem! I laughed so hard and I was so deeply touched! This was really very good and you should definitely have more reviews than what you have! *giggle* It was cute, honest, and such a clever idea! Backwards. Oh, goodness! I never would have thought of that. Ah, this is definitely going on my favorites. By the way, I love your writing style. It is so personal! |
annegirl1324 chapter 1 . 8/8/2006 Interesting. Very interesting. Well-written, with good characters and a great twist on the Sleeping Beauty plot. I like it. Great job. :-) |
InChrist-Billios chapter 1 . 8/6/2006 WOWOWOW! This was simply aMAzing! Excellently done! Wow. GOOD JOB! |
nosilla chapter 1 . 8/5/2006 two-timing beetle... bwah... |
Senabra and Ganem chapter 1 . 8/5/2006 Wow,I really enjoyed this version it really caught my atention and couldn't stop reading. It was very different to twist the story around and make it so that the spindle was her saviour rather than the kiss, I loved that and the fact that your version showed quite a bit of originality. |
