strong start to this review i see.

i’d like to take a minute to congratulate you on your characterization of sesshomaru — it’s still quintessentialy him, but there’s a flair to the edges that makes this sesshomaru (only half a pun, promise) a little different, a little more unique compared to the others wandering fanfictions with girls out of time. honestly, i think the atsuko backstory is what really sold me on him; nice reasoning for why he’s a cold, seemingly heartless bastard compared to the usual ‘he was raised to think that way’ story.

vanessa is also a small delight — while there’s nothing revolutionary about her character in and of itself, it is SO refreshing to see a time traveler not only want to go back to their time, but take active measures on their own to attempt it. yes, she struggles with wanting to leave all those she’s come to care for in the 1500s, but she’s still very resolute that she has to at least TRY. she doesn’t just hop down the bone eater’s well, bang her knees a bit, and call it a day.

i honestly don’t know if i would rather see her stay in the feudal era or return home to modern times and reunite with a ~1,000 year old sesshomaru. there are obviously benefits to both! i’m also not convinced that sesshomaru will stay on his side of the gate, should they find it in the wilds of the new world — and what a twist it would be to have him be absent from his own lands for 500 years! again, there are tragedies and benefits to this, mostly me getting to read about him being a fish out of water and nothing constructive lol. to be fair, i think you’re much to nice to do that to him haha.

last point for tonight i guess — who in the hell is yoshida?! i actually went back to re-read his description after the dream-vision of 1940s sesshomaru just to double check it wasn’t him... and to be fair the only thing keeping me from thinking that is yoshida’s ‘intense hazel eyes.’ no way piercing gold could be confused for hazel... though i suppose if he started dying his hair dark...

i hope that you haven’t given up on this story; i understand that life happens and ‘hobbies’ for lack of a better word must be put on hold while one deals with that, but still. i hope to see an update in the future!

Into the East

Okay. A trained doctor sees someone collapse in front of them and they DON’T DO ANYTHING BESIDES CHECKING THE PERSON’S PULSE? What? Ok it might have been nerves/panic, I’ve already seen trained professionals blank in stress situations (not doctors though), so, I kept reading in hopes that the OC would in fact do anything remotely similar to how a trained doctor would act in face of an injured unconscious person, but nope. Nothing. In fact the OC stayed there moping by the injured person’s side.
I think the story is well written so far, but the background research for making characters believable surely is lacking.
Sometimes I feel the OC has the “beauty without brains” and the “I can’t do anything” syndrome.
But let’s continue.

OMG you need to update this! (Look who's talking, I neglected two of mine for nearly a decade...). Seriously though, I love this. And I need to know which will admit their love first! (Though I guess Sesshomaru already did, did he not realize he'd called her love a few chapters back?). And I need to know if Vanessa changes her mind or if he meets her on the other side? Update soon please!

I love that even though Sesshomaru acknowledges that Vanessa is a beautiful girl, that he doesn't fall heads over heals for her in an instant and has a sudden urge to mate her.

Let me start off by saying that I admire your dedication towards your story since you've kept up with it since 2006. It's good to see a writer who is passionate enough about her story to the point of continuing it for 7 years.
I can't wait to read more chapters of your awesome fic & see what happens between Vanessa & Sesshomaru. I honestly hope Vanessa never makes it back to her time and that she and Sesshomaru become mates. I'm a sucker for happy endings, but even more so for the Sesshomaru you portrayed!
I know you have a life outside of fanfiction, but I can't wait for more chapters and the finale!
I truly hope this story has a very happy ending because your Sesshomaru certainly deserves it!
