Actually near the end of season one and perhaps even before that we see the broad swords proudly hanging on the wall in zuko's room, its how zhao figures out he's the Blue Spirit. and beyond that it's never specified that the swords are of the oxtail variety, simply that they are dual dao broadswords. and Dao broadswords are referred to as "The General of all Weapons" since they are the base design for many weapons used in the far east. and the simplest argument to make against your veiw is that in the 1700's the Imperial Guards Brigade used the dao broadsword(s) as their primary melee weapon. as well as the relativley old martial arts practice of Shuangdao the weilding of twin dao. sorry for rambling nice story but i can't help it when i see people make these kind of mistakes

I've got to say, I'm really intrigued by this story. The Zuko and Mai interaction is really good, and I'm really curious to see what happens next.
