This is an incredibly long-overdue review.
I started watching Supernatural in October 2012 and I started reading fanfiction soon after. I was already a reader/writer for a different fandom. I want to tell you how your stories gave me something.
I believe Between the Shadows was the first of your stories I read. I loved the Hurt/Comfort trope in my previous fandom, and all my stories had an element of it. When I discovered it here in SPN through your works, I was very excited. I love a long story, and this delivered in droves. I like to lose myself in a world and the one you created in this was exactly what I wanted.
Soon after I started reading SPN stories, I started writing them, and your works had an influence on that. I realized I wasn’t the only one that enjoyed H/C and I could indulge that with my own stuff. I have since written 50 stories for SPN – 48 of them posted/posting – which equates to over 3 million words so far.
I am rereading Between the Shadows right now, and I am enjoying it now just as much as I did the first time. The one thing I find unfortunate is that you moved from beautiful pacing and detail to jumping ahead weeks because of some impatient readers. I would have loved to see that part of the journey in the story, though you more than make up for it with the things that come later.
Thank you for writing this beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it for us all to enjoy. Thank you for making me see there were readers for the kinds of stories I wanted to write as sharing my work with an audience is one of my favourite parts of writing. I can tell you put a lot of time into research for your stories, and I made that my rule from early on. I wanted to put as much detail and work into mine as you did as that was one of my favourite parts of these worlds.
You inspired me, and I am so sorry it took so long for me to come back and write this review.

glad i stumbled across this story, i love it! is there a sequel by any chance?

I know this story is over 12 years old but i just love this and it makes me so emotional. I DIDN'T KNOW I HAD THIS MANY FEELINGS.

During Wendigo, the diary scene if anyone noticed, John had written "Sammy took his first steps towards Dean" and during All hell breaks loose Part 1 when Sammy dies (not for long), he takes his last steps towards Dean. I don't know why, but I HAD to mention this, I guess because his first(proper)steps after the accident were also towards Dean.

this has got to be one of the best AU stories out there!

It took me a while to finish reading everything and now I see why this is reader's favorite. I'm just sad about Sam and Sarah. Damn I hate that demon. It's good I just came upon this story I already know what happened in the series. I'd prefer this version though. They killed John there without him making it right with the boys. Well he did but he did soon after.
