The Terrible Jester chapter 1 . 9/23/2011
great story...!
Mottsnave chapter 1 . 8/21/2011
I think this is actually a pretty thorough study of the kind of circular thoughts that come with depression. It has a kind of trapped claustrophobic feeling because you never let the reader OUT of Remus' thoughts, we are sort of trapped in there with him, going round and round.

It also think it's pretty accurate that the little bits of relief he gets come from when he is able to break 'out of himself' a bit and try to focus on the well-being of others, such as when he writes the letter to Harry and when he finally recognizes Hestia's pain.

really, really good *sobbing*
truthsetfree chapter 1 . 9/30/2007
So sad. So Remus. So well written. There's lots of gorgeous telling powerful lines in this, but a couple of my favorites were:

"Wolves don’t cry. They don’t know how.

If they knew, this one would be bawling.

Men don’t cry, not in our culture. They don’t know how.

If they knew, this one would have been bawling for days.

Wolves do howl, though. We’re good at that. This one was howling till dawn." (and then the echo of this in "Sometimes you don’t need to be a wolf to howl" was just beautiful)

"The sun starts to rise in earnest. The row of terraced houses where I live slowly starts to take shape. I definitely like it better in the light. A new dawn. I got through the night."
syrraki chapter 1 . 8/23/2007
ACK this is so beautiful and brilliant and SAD. SOB SOB SOB... POOR REMUS. And poor Sirius. It's just tragic. Lovely story though.
InkandPaper chapter 1 . 5/10/2007
Great work; you delved deep into Lupin mind and showed his feelings perfectly. I'm impressed!
Tharin chapter 1 . 2/16/2007
I really love this story. I think it's one of the best and most realistic portraits of Remus after OotP. The way you've wrote him - his loss, his anger, his feelings in general - is amazing. I'm going to add this to my fav stories list.
theturtlemoves chapter 1 . 8/1/2006
Was looking for Hestia (as I do, since Caradoc Dearborn's name isn't on the list) and I found your story. I love it. Remus is awesome - I have so much trouble capturing his character.

Best bit is when he's drunk. LOL. That's all I can say.

Awesome. Remuslove.
Crookshanks22 chapter 1 . 6/8/2006
This is a very moving evocation of depression. I had mixed feelings about the long, long series of very short paragraphs- some passages were a bit tedious to read- yet they certainly evoked the sensation of dragging oneself minute by minute through long nights and long days, which I assume is what you intended to accomplish. And I loved the sly humor! E.g.:

"The letter from Miss Hermione Granger lies on the table. What a really nice kid. What an interfering little madam. One or the other. Or both. I don’t know. I’m a little confused right now."

"Just once, I’d like to drink a potion that tastes of strawberries and cream."

I'll have to take a look at what else you've written . . .
