This chapter is a good illustration that the meme of witches and wizards having a magical core comes from RPGs. It does not exist anywhere in the cannon Harry Potter universe. In the Potterverse the only magical cores are in wands. The power wielded by witches and wizards comes from:
Having or not having magic (either you are magical or you are muggle/squib)
Knowledge (you have to know spells or potion recipes)
Concentration (you lose concentration and the spell fizzles)
Intent (Cruciatus requires sadistic enjoyment of seeing others suffer)
Intelligence (making connections to create new spells or potions or new ways to use existing ones or thinking faster on your feet)
Physical stamina (to a degree at least. If tired or injured it becomes more difficult to cast spells)
Technique (that silly wand waving has to use the right gestures and pronunciation)
Training (the more you practice, the better you get)
Artifacts (like wands or perhaps Ravenclaw's diadem - see the earlier mention of intelligence)

I wish that the story was continued. It was rather good so far, aside from a couple of errors here and there.

This is a great story. Your views on magic and reality are very interesting, and i hope you will continue this story. Even though it is labelled as complete...
