This is an excellent fic and quite the undertaking for your first Numb3rs fic! I'm not sure how I missed it 11 years ago when I first got into the show and reading fics for this fandom, but I'm really glad I ended up finding it. I read it all in mostly one sitting because I just couldn't walk away from it.

I'm a huge sucker for Don whump, and this fic was excellent for that. The scenes with the mercy flight were really suspenseful and I started to wonder if you were actually going to kill him off. Man so much trauma... poor Don!

I especially like Don whump with a huge dose of Eppes Family angst and again, this did not disappoint. This fic pretty smoothly transitioned from the hostage situation to the aftermath, with Alan and Charlie (and, to a lesser extent, Amita and Don's team) dealing with the fallout, and the stress of the uncertainty of Don's prognosis. The conflict between Alan and Charlie really took me by surprise; I would have expected such a fight between Alan and Don if it had been Charlie in the coma. But you wrote it very organically and I had no problem at all believing that the stress of the situation, and their complete agony at the extent of Don's injuries, and different aspects of exactly how he got to be so injured, would have pushed them to that point. You did a really good job exploring this.

I'm a huge Charlie/Amita fan, but this fic was so good that this being a Don/Amita fic didn't deter me from this story. (Probably because ultimately the story was really about Charlie and Don, and the romance was secondary. But you did write it well so I can appreciate that.)

Would have made a great episode... felt like I was watching the show

I'm enjoying your story a lot, but the law enforcement details are kind of rough - for example, the bag of Don's personal effects would have been confiscated as evidence - Alan never would have gotten his hands on them under these circumstances. And if they took the SUV to what turned out to be a crime scene, that would have been confiscated as well. Either way, I don't think a civilian would have been permitted to drive it - they usually contain weapons and communications equipment and are government property. Sorry, just had to get it off my chest.

Just by accident I discovered this story. Man, what I missed'till now! A wonderful story! Just another one which kept me staying in front of the computer until so late (actually it was early in the morning!):o)

Although, I'm a huge fan of Don and Robin (always wanted them getting married and having children in the show), you managed it so very well, that I just loved to see Don with Amita.

At the beginning there was an excellent Don-Whumping (great!) and then you took us in an incredible world of feelings. All this different Pov's of everybody and described their turmoil in such a delicate way, I'm really touched!

All the medical stuff felt credible. I liked it very much. The only, little thing I noticed: When Don woke up, he was able to speak. When did he get rid of the tube? Don't get me wrong (I'm really not an expert), there are often FF's where this happens, and it isn't so disturbing at all, so don't bother!

This is a great work you did with our boys. You are very talented. That's why I'm a bit sad, because it appears, that the muse of Numb3rs seemed to have left you. I would love to read another Numb3rs-story from you.

Excellent story so far. You just have a few spelling errors. You have the word "roll" when you mean "role" and have "beaurea" which should be "bureau".

It's not over the top and you didn't dismiss Don's recovery to squeeze in more Don/Amita, or vice versa.

It's a perfect ending, almost straight out of the show, with it ending with everyone at the dinner table, thankful for the trouble passed and the smiles still there to be seen.

I suddenly feel like I just wrote a Hallmark card, but never mind.

I can't believe it's actually finished!

Don and Charlie still had their issues. They were both stubborn – they got that from Alan himself. They were both proud – that they got from their mother. They were so different that they were constantly banging heads – Don still trying to get out of Charlie's shadow, a shadow that was mostly in his own mind, and Charlie constantly trying to win his older brother's approval, which he already had, but didn't realize. Sometimes, they were exhausting.

I loved this line...one of the few lines that made me smile...

I have read this chapter many times...as periodically when it is updated, I have to go back through to re-read these early chapters to have the details fresh in my mind...and I get teary eyed EVERY time I read it!
