Even at the end of the game when it was revealed that Wander had used a "forbidden spell" and will be punished, I've never felt that he had really done anything wrong. Rather, it really is the temple and Emon's use of Mono as sacrifice that drove him to his doomed quest. It always irked me that they were the ones who were punished.

I think I've favourited all of your SotC/ICO stories. Love them all very much!

I think every detail fit perfectly and I think, if they were to some day create a version of the game with an intro that explains more, this should certainly be referred to. Bravo!

At first, I wasn't too fond of your story, but now that I've finished, I actually like it quite a bit! I just love your use of words... if that's the proper way to compliment you for that... "use of words"... You get it, right?

Also, the whole "suicide" part. Sheesh, that was great. I never thought of it like that (I just beat the game today), and it really does offer a new insight for me on the game.

My only small tiny flaw in your story is that Mono was sacrificed. Unless you mean by poison or something (it's usually done with a sword or dagger, eh?), then wouldn't Mono have physical marks in the game of being sacrificed, like a wound or blood or something? But that's all I have to say, and I could be wrong on many levels about this. Anyway, great story. :D

That was...beautiful. Really well done, it read like a legend or a fairytale in some way. Given, those of those tales that turns dark by the end, but lovely nonetheless. Your portrayal of the relationship between Wander and Mono is a great one, a husband and a wife. I'm not sure I've seen that one before. Anyway, your words are charming and captivating and the tiny world you weave with them is enchanting. Great job.

Wow is all I can manage to say about this. Very, very powerful and moving! The way you described both the Wanderer and Mono were flawless, as well as every other aspect of this piece. I particularly loved the ending; the fact that the sentence "It was suicide" was separated from the previous paragraph only intensified the feeling of grief and guilt from Wanderer, and I could feel what he felt for a split-second. I also see that you have other works on Shadow of the Colossus on fanfiction, and if they are anywhere as good as this, you can expect to hear from me again! It was a pleasure reading. :)

And I really love the backstory; it fits very well with the game, what with Wander having to hunt and kill the stag for Mono, just like the Colossi.

I am curious as to why Mono was killed, or taken, but I think the story works even without that information.

I enjoyed your portrayal of Wander's love as almost religious, especially the irony at the end when his attempt to bring her a gift resulted in him not protecting her. The writing is fairly flowery and distracting at times, but the core of the piece is good.

Wow, that was one of the best fics that I have read so far. It was sort of like a fairy tale, but was dark enough to be... well, really interesting. This is a really good backstory and is probably going to be the one that I will think of as the real one from now on. Thanks for this amazing fic.

I liked the story over all except for two things:

1.) There was no character dialogue

2.) You never said why she was sacrificed in the story.

I added it to my favs, because it was a very good back story.

Very nice. A well-written, poignant fic. I like the style. It's romantic but manages to avoid being OTT. The only thing I can think of where this doesn't seem to fit in with canon is that Mono supposedly died because she had a cursed fate, which you don't mention at all.

Aw... so sad. But very good. I like the idea, and it was extremely well written. Continue to write awesome stories like this!
