Just read this story after seeing a link you posted - what a great way to start the day! Just the way I'd imagine Ennis and Jack spending Christmas together, with a reprise of the original (Christian) Christmas story added.

I loved your stories that were canon, and at the same time, am excited to see you writing now in AU. What a gift this story is for us readers, the happiness of seeing our boys together, Ennis wearing his reunion shirt, Jack with his hands full of a tangle of tree lights, just perfect, and then the two of them working together to help out passing strangers in their time of need. Thanks so much for this.

While there are many well-done stories here, too often they follow the heartbreaking theme of the movie; and while that isn't bad as the movie is wonderful - part of the appeal of fanfiction is to see alternate outcomes, different realities. If I want beatings, cheating, and angst, I can just get out my DVD and watch the movie again.

This kind of story is refreshing. Would love to see more 'day in the life' glimpses like this. Thank you.

I loved it, but I would have loved it if..well, I don't know, cause i haven't read any trashy fanfiction yet, so maybe i wouldn't if it were.

My very favorite thing..was you remembering to put reading glasses on Ennis.

The childbirth scene was convincing, but-maybe you ought to know, the "afterbirth" is all that long cord that the mother's grown to feed ther baby with during prergnancy, and in the hospital, the doctor attaches one end of it to a big spool, and winds it up! Maybe that should be included ion the directions the doctor gives Ennis.

Gee, for asll I know, you're as doctor.

I am so AMAZED at all the great fanfiction coming out of this movie and short story! There's a great woman mystery writer, Dorothy Sayers, and someone tried to write a sequal to her last novel..it was TRASH!
