I'm not sure if you read these anymore, since you wrote this so long ago. I just recently got into Doctor Who and enjoy 9th's portrayal the best. I enjoyed reading this story, although found some moments to be pretty out of character for nine, who seems to express his feelings through understated actions, rather than using words. I appreciate your concept of a companion being susceptible to alien diseases. It's very creative and original.

From the Doctor's reaction, I gather that this illness is fatal? I hope he will find a way to save her. Of course, you did say you hated character deaths and there is a sequel...so it's safe to assume he finds a cure or something. )
