This story was absolutely amazing to me for many reasons! It moved quickly, and yet, start to finish flowed with unbroken sense (I often run into 'quick' stories that confuse me about character actions or change in scene). Also, I was very impressed with how the revealing of thought and emotion of the main character made simple, ordinary actions deeper and more 'colorful'. Single sentences are PACKED with perceptions, which blow me away! In a spot or two, I felt that there was wording that was a little too forced away from contemporary uses of speech or thought. Your writing style is full of emotional and psychological impact that is logically timed and makes sense. I hope other writers carefully study your techniqe, because you have the artistic ability to tell a lot by saying a little!

Yes! There's our grand old Jack O'Neil! I like your take on him, and the story was a really nice setting for an early-in-the-series type of Jack encounter. Very nice.
