Throughout this whole story I read one chapter after another, and snarled at anybody who tried to take me away from it. Thanks for a very compelling story.

I can't believe this was your first fanfiction. Amazing.

Anyway. GREAT job on this whole fic. Especially since it was your first one. You did a good job of keeping all of our beloved canon-characters in-character, a great job with your original characters, good pace, lovely imagery (you seem to be really good at that, I'm jealous), and overall just very well written.

ROTFLOL Bald-Megan really surprising suspects in interrogations. That's a FANTASTIC image! (Though, for some reason, the idea of her wearing the wig and deliberately taking it off in front of people she wants to surprise popped into my head there. But entering bald is beautiful too.)

"You Eppes men pass out a lot." I LOVE your doctor. :-D

And the interaction between the Eppes men was wonderful. Charlie losing chess, leaving teaching, taking up dating. All beautiful. Very well done.

Though this one isn't Doctor 'Hurt Me', is it? I didn't realize that the one that gets stuff thrown at him probably wasn't the same one Charlie was seeing now till he surprised the nice nurse. Oh well, I guess he'll be Dr. Not-Seeing in my mind now. Or something like that. Maybe Sight-less?

You almost had me in tears. Quite an accomplishment, considering I'm barely awake. I really shouldn't be awake. I have to get up and go to work in six hours and I haven't gone to bed yet. But I started reading through your stories and now I can't stop.

I'll finish this one, I guess. Then I'll make myself go to bed. Hopefully that'll work. Otherwise I'm gonna be a zombie at work.

OK. I've now decided I've either never read this fic or never read past Chapter 16. Because I definitely would've remembered this chapter.

The light-hearted start with the jello, Don facing a talking spoon and the tie of-I think-the blue jello being the marrow Don was donating to Charlie (but maybe I'm reading too much into), was very well done.

I don't get to say poor Charlie in this chapter. Despite the hard time he's having, we didn't see him. But I do feel really bad for Don. And Alan, but more for Don.

You've kept both of them very well in-character. I can easily see Alan having a lot of trouble dealing with this, even if he hadn't already lost his wife, Charlie's mother, to the same illness years before.

And Don having to decide between the two of them again and again, and crying now when he can't get to either of them, was beautiful. Heart-breaking, too, but beautifully done.

I don't think Don's "hurry up" was lame. If anything, it was probably pretty perfect for Charlie to hear. A reminder for why he has to get better. Which isn't easy.

Though the doctor's 'cancellation' made me sad for him. Considering it probably meant his other patient died. That HAS to be a hard profession to get in to. Understandably hysterical people throw stuff at him, and all too many die on him. :-(

Still, again: good job.
