I know this story hasn’t been updated in a while, and i’m Not sure if this will reach you. But thank you for this. I’m really enjoying this story.

Yep I'm having difficulties with this.
Its a mix of things. First its the suspension of disbelief with the violin lessons at school. I dunno about your school but at mine we had no such thing. The budget didn't allow for that. Any instrument the children had that was school property could not be brought out of the school at all. Now I can believe a kid deciding to spend as much time as possible with the school equipment, after all, I used to do the same thing with the school piano, but it is highly unlikely they would let a student take a school instrument home.

The second issue is, your characters are kinda unlikable. Lily's letter makes her sound selfish, self-centered and self absorbed. A truly unlikable person.
Harry is a fearful kid who doesn't expect anyone to believe him, and yet is somehow interpersonally aware enough to notice that his music teacher knows he is lying. A bit of a doormat, admittedly, he is in a set of circumstances where he cannot afford to shake the boat. There's something about how you've written your Harry that just really rubs me the wrong way. He hasn't shown any redeeming qualities yet. Perhaps because he gave up on the music. I understand that he cannot take the instrument home but he can stay in the music room after school at recess and at lunch and practice. You don't give up on your only joy in life because someone is being an a-hole. You hide and find ways around the problem. Harry is half Slytherin he should act like it. My mother doesn't like to hear me when I practise music, my neighbours either. What did I do? Get myself an instrument I can mute and practise with earphones so I can hear myself practising but no one else can. Don't have enough money to buy your instrument or sheet music? Work at the music shop to pay for it, or do off jobs for the neighbours to get cash. You can't save money at home? Find/make a hidey hole or 10 elsewhere to keep your hard earned cash and when you are old enough get a safe deposit box in a bank. Don't have space outside of Dursley care to keep your instrument? Ask your teacher if you can leave it with her/him make up an excuse about not forgetting it at home or something. There are always solutions. So no I don't like your wimpy Harry.
Your Severus is canon. I was not a fan of canon Severus. I enjoy Fanon Severus for his sarcasm, snarky-ness and his potential.
Your Dumbledore was Canon. Oddly enough, I liked Canon Dumbledore when I read the book. I thought he was a paragon of virtue and good and Light. Fanfiction made me question his actions. And now I am not a fan of Dumbledore or his deliberate grooming of Harry into a reckless child with a hero complex and a extremely low value of his own life. Pig raised to the slaughter. Not likable, not acceptable.

More suspension of disbelief in no explanation given for how Harry got to Hogwarts in the first place. No one even asked as far as I can tell. Severus acted out of character when he didn't even complain about having to check on Potter when he was at Hogwarts. Or WHY was Potter at Hogwarts? Etc.

Yeah unlikable characters equals lack of emotional investment which means I don't really care what happens to them, and therefore I am more likely to simply stop reading this at all.

Good on you for trying something original.

Okay, I couldn't help but think of the song Dirty Little Secret by All-American Rejects while reading this chapter.

It's 2016 and I thought I hope there is an update soon then I see last updated 2009;(

hi some little things are rubbing me the wrong way so I thought I'd get them of my chest even if you never read this - i play the violin you see. First most cello music is written in the F clef (bass clef) not the C clef (alto clef) (I'm assuming the song Lily wrote would have been for a violin and cello not a violin and a viola). Also violins come in different sizes - a ten year old boy would play a half sized violin - while Harry at sixteen would have great trouble playing a half-sized violin, so its actually pretty impractical to have him playing the exact same instrument as six years ago. I hope you finish this story (even after all these years), I love the premise.

I swear if you Abandoned this story I'll quit reading fanfiction period .
This is heaven on earth .This is the sun to the sky great of a story this is the only story I have found that is a combination of both Harry thinking Potter and music Without being Parody .
So please please please please please Please UPDATE SOON .
I will wait But if the storie Is not updated in 2016 done for it . But Hopefully won't take you that long. Please Please
