Cho chapter 17 . 10/28/2019 What... I am so confused. |
WhymsicalBell chapter 17 . 7/21/2019 Disappointment tbh. This wasn't a story where the reader could follow along and guess based on the chapters. It was just one where it made no sense and you literally had no way of telling until it was revealed at the last chapter. Not bad, but not what I was looking for. Also it was very VERY long, and the romance/characterisation was unnecessary. It's not bad but for a genre like this, it shouldbe the murder mystery FIRST, then romance/characterisation if any. This just felt like mostly romance/description/characterisation with a few murder mystery themes in between them. |
WhymsicalBell chapter 13 . 7/21/2019 So they framed dumbledore? Did Bellatrix commit suicide because she secretly loved Lucius or something? |
WhymsicalBell chapter 11 . 7/21/2019 I'm confused urgghhh. I'm not liking all the romantic moments and stuff acuse it's a lot to read through to get to the murders and quite frankly feels meaningless. There's also issues with who's who. Honestly, the best things about this story so far are the descriptions and the romance/character development between them. The timing/who's with who etc, is seriously disjointed. We're cut scenes without being told how certain people/pairs got to be where they were, or who even suggested they move rooms and for what reason. Or what they're doing there. This makes it hard for me to follow along and try to pinpoint clues as to who killed who. I thought this story would be one where the reader can guess and form clues and stuff. But this fanfic doesn't seem to sate that either. Urghghghghgh. The romance/characterisation is great, but there's no real reader guessing. Maybe it's on purpose but it's just...too hard for the reader to follow along. This didn't turn out to be the story I hoped for. Whatever I'd still continue reading cause I want the big reveal... |
WhymsicalBell chapter 10 . 7/21/2019 Interesting... |
WhymsicalBell chapter 9 . 7/21/2019 Yeah I 100% suspect something's off about Ron and Dumbledore. Did Dumbledore get Ron in an imperious because he seems a bit out of it? He could have imperoised Ron to strangle Bellatrix then ordered the house elves to set it up to make it look like a hanging. He could have imperoised someone who had command of the house elves to set it up. I wonder what the motive is. Since it's all members of the Malfoy house maybe it's Draco because he wants sole heritage. Or maybe it's Pansy because she wants Draco to have the full heritage over it. Narcissa was poisoned by something the house elves put down though... IDK. The thing that threw me of is the thing about having multiple murderers. That's a little too much for my mind to handle. If it's just one I could guess alright, but with multiple it's too hard and I'm not really bothered to put that much thought into a fanfiction aha. Stillcan't wait to read on! |
WhymsicalBell chapter 8 . 7/21/2019 Interesting. So the house elves answered to Pansy but not to Hermione. Maybe Pansy wanted to kill Lucius because she wanted her future husband's family to be gone of the dark lord stuff. And then Bellatrix because who wants to marry into a family with that psycho person. But IDK...I don't fully see the point of Hermione and Voldemort finding out if the poison worked or if it didn't. Surely Snape can't be the only person capable of making that poison to kill someone, it could easily be Dumbledore or Voldemort, or Bellatrix. So it's not helpful. Though I guess knowing the poison didn't work would eliminate one potential murder weapon and if they had the right murder weapon it would be better. I'm curious about the lack of Dumbledore and Ron Weasley's perspectives. I foresee something interesting with them... |
WhymsicalBell chapter 7 . 7/21/2019 Curious. I like Hermione's suggestion of the house elves. This reminds me of a lot of another fanfic I read, but that one was definitely more melodramatic and parodyish and this one is definitely serious the whole way through. They're both great. I'm srurpsied two similar stories could be written about such similar topics but be still so different and enjoyable in their wake. Hm...at this ponit I still don't know. It could be 2 murderers. I still suspect Ron and Harry a little. Hm...I think Harry killed Lucius. Bellatrix maybe went looking for the murderer. I don't know who killed her yet. I do think that the house elves acting on the orders may be true. Also the thing about ownership changing hands etc. Maybe Draco or Narcissa ordered the house elves for it. I don't think it's Narcissa because she was shocked. As in I don't think she killed Bellatrix...Draco maybe... |
WhymsicalBell chapter 6 . 7/21/2019 Hmm...interesting. Several things: what made Herione and Voldemort investigate? Last time I checked they were reading books and quite happy with the magic in the room. What made them want togo out? Could Hermione be the killer? Maybe she killed Bellatrix then came back for Voldemort. I'm not surprised Bellatrix is dead. She's easily the most dislikable out of the group. 1) Narcissa, Snape, Hermione, Ron. I don't think it's Harry cause he was with Pansy the whole time. I also don't think he killed Lucius but someone else killed Bellatrix. I reckon it's the same murderer. At this point I think it's Narcissa because she would want Bellatrix dead lol. 2) Still no fcking clue aha. Can't wait for the next chap! :) |
WhymsicalBell chapter 5 . 7/21/2019 Interesting. Okay I'mgoing to do my reviews two ways (because I'm interested aha), I'm going to review 1) based on what I think is true due to the emotion and character through the chapters. But this could all be false because I could imagine it's all revealed last second as a plot twist etc. 2) Based on what I think is true due to facts and stuff. (I love guessing games aha) Btw, just wanted to say beforehand I loved the dialogue between Drac oand Ginny. First time I saw what conspired between Ginny and thechamber of secrets explored properly from Draco's perspective and realising that he probably didn't even know the ins and outs of it. It was quite nice. Also, I feel a bit sorry for Snape. He already couldn't have Lily and then he suffered over Narcissa. Glad she got him anyway. I'm loving your AN where you said it was going to be an unlikely character and more murders :D So interesting! 1) I don't think it's Draco because he honestly seemed too shocked for it. Plus, he wants his father dead yes, but did he actually do it? I don't think it's Voldemort because it's too damn obvious. I for some reason don't think it's Ginny. I also don't think it's Bellatrix or Dumbledore. I could still be Hermione. Tbh something about her conversation with Voldemort about killing Lucius sounded a little wrong to me. Idk. She seemed logical but not emotional about it. At this point I'm thinking: Narcissa, Snape, Harry or Ron. Actually I'm mostly thinking Harry or Ron. They have a lot of rage and anger at him, and they're not as closely tied to him. 2) No one. Honestly all of them could have. I agree that the rope is unlikely to have caused death by strangulation (perhaps some other way). Though I disagree because I think perhaps a strong and heavy candlestick (esp with metal around the base) hit at the head at just the right angle and everything could knock someone out or do a job. And since there was a storm and everything you couldn't have heard the noise. I wonder if the killer was the person who bought in all these murder weapons. Or if someone else was involved in bringing them in. Anyways, can't wait for the next chap! |
WhymsicalBell chapter 4 . 7/21/2019 This is funny. I could have sworn I reviewed the other 3 chapters, it's been about 20 minutes and they aren't coming through. Maybe I accidentally reviewed as guest. Anyways, I forgot what I said for the first three so it doesn't really matter. But I found this chapter interesting, especially how they all had motives for wanting Lucius dead and how they each caught onto that. So it already amps up the spooky atmosphere and I love how they seem to have ubiquitously agreed that anyone could have done it. I'm not ruling out Voldemort even though it was told in his perspective because his perspective of the events only started AFTER Lucius was murdered. He could have easily killed him before but since he's already a killer was desensitised and was only describing his observations on how well his murder went afterward, so he could very well still be the killer even though it's from his perspective. I'm interested in the fact that Lucius was killed in so many different ways. I think the killer did it because the killer did one of those ways, but he/she did the others so people wouldn't suspect/harder to narrow it down. I'm not entirely ruling out Bellatrix because even though it's not her style, her style is usually when sh's 100% certain she's going to be able to kill someone and has time, hence torturing them. If she had a political purpose under odd pressures (the whole thing is odd) she could easily adjust her style just this once. Especially if it's some deed to Voldemort. I'm keen to who the murderer is. This reminds me of another fanfic I read recently about the same premise but in that one the murderer was a character out of the original bunch and didn't make any appearance until the end. I'm sort of going through a horror junkie phase rn lol so I love these guessing games, esp if the reader can follow along and I hope the killer is someone within the eleven people that we could take guesses at as clues get revealed later on. |
WhymsicalBell chapter 3 . 7/21/2019 Nice chapter, I can see all of their reasons for wanting Lucius dead. Narcissa's especially. Spoke out to me because I've never seen her portrayed in this light in other fanfictions before, but now I can easily imagine it. Yeah I did imagine Narcissa married for the money, security of an old wealthy family, and wanted an easy life living affluently. Not to have to deal with her husband involved in a conspiracy theory that never worked, sinking money and time into it, and putting a price tag on all of their heads, including her precious Draco. I can easily see her resenting it after it's all built up, admitting her mistake in marrying Lucius and just wanting him dead. Anyways, this was a brilliant chapter, can't wait to read the next! :) |
WhymsicalBell chapter 2 . 7/21/2019 Just for the record, Draco and Lucius' heights in relation to each other aren't described in the books. But in the movies the actor for Lucius is several inches taller than the actor for Draco, so going by the movies as canon after the books failed to deliver - Lucius should still be several inches taller than Draco in this. Not the other way around. But besides that this chapter was all good. Can't wait to read the next few. |
WhymsicalBell chapter 1 . 7/21/2019 Lol, the names of the Malfoy family's house elves remind me of santa's reindeer xD Good chapter, I loved the way you described things! |
robwar80 chapter 17 . 5/7/2017 Nice story and amazing end(ings). It was fun how the plot kept developing and how Hermione was slowly turning to the dark side. My favorite ending was the ASPEW ending with the house elves becoming a comunist movement. I just had to laugh the moment Dobby said he read the communist manifesto. |
