Reviews for Gifts from Above
Wildfire's Flame chapter 1 . 9/24
Very Nicely done. I love that Sam is angsting over everything going on. I love dean checking on him even when dean should not be,out of bed. I love Sam trying to take care of him. The feelings and, emotions here are great. Very nicely done.
HeroicDean chapter 1 . 5/4/2016
Loved this story very much. It was refreshing to see Sam's utter devotion to Dean shine through like its supposed to again. Faith was one of my favorite of the first season, and I think it had to do with that brotherly bond and that unending concern Sam heaped on Dean.
Sallyannerenee chapter 1 . 10/9/2015
I love this.
SPN Mum chapter 1 . 6/20/2014
This was great! Sam's misery at the thought of losing Dean, his guilty feelings for leaving Dean for four years, it is all so masterfully displayed. Great job!
sapphireswimming chapter 1 . 8/9/2013
Oh wow. Loved how you took the dialogue from the episode and continued it, turned it into something even more! What they were saying to each other, it was so perfect and in character and the assurances and the promises and the banter by the end. :'3

Fave line: Finally I got through to him, slipped past his walls, and I had never seen him look more heartbroken. "Sam, don't ask me for something I can't give you," his words were barely kept together by his resolve, my heart pierced by the pleading in his eyes.
25rhieannerain chapter 1 . 6/20/2012
I've read this one before. In fact, this is the first Supernatural fan fiction I read in here. I didn't know who you were back then and was dumb at navigating this site. Anyway, this will always hold a special place in my heart given the fact that it was my first. The Winchester's Trilogy will always be number one though, this one is just special. :) It's sad, it's heart-warming, it's short but it's incredibly sweet! 3

"That brother of mine," Dean's voice comes to me across the short distance between our beds and I look over to meet his eyes.

"The prick?" I reply, a cocky smile on my face.

"Yeah, him. I love him, you know, even when he's moody and turns off my music."

"He knows that, dumbbehind."

"Night, prick."

Too adorable! I loved them both so much!
Scribble2Much chapter 1 . 5/20/2012
I liked this one.

Really nice!
Rosetta Brunestud chapter 1 . 10/21/2010
Great *-*

The end made me smile! I love that episode, completely, since the first time I saw it (I lost count how many times I watched it ehehe).

That was really awesome ~

See you around

LittleLurker chapter 1 . 4/13/2010
God, I loved this! A perfect missing scene and absolutely great writing.

As I usually read some other reviews when I decide to leave one (so you don't have to read everything, like, 27 times) I just let you know that I completely agree with everything "bhoney" already said. But I also loved Sam's guilty thoughts about how he treated Dean - especially when he left for Stanford and 'wanted a clean cut'.

Another thing I liked a lot is the end, especially the part were you made it clear that Sam essentially finds faith because of Dean and I do not agree with "hink", since I a large part of this episode dealt with faith in God (or a higher power), even if whatever the reverend did only worked because of the reaper his wife had on a leash. Anyway, I do believe, that even the episode made it abunantly clear that the reverend himself had no knowledge of what was going on 'behind the scenes'. He did say, God guided him in choosing the person to heal and I don't see how his wife or the reaper could influence his decisions...

Anyway, I'm not really a religious person, though I have to admit that I do believe in some higher power (that doesn't necessarily include angles a/o demons), but I do think your interpretation of the epsiode and add ons work very well and - at least for me - it's totally believable that Sam found his faith in seeing Dean as the gift he is and while fighting to keep him in his life, at his side.

Great work! Please keep going - I'll read...

Cheers, D.
Nana56 chapter 1 . 12/3/2009
Aw, my favorite episode! And now, I have a favorite missing scene. Very, very nice. Touching and moving in all the best ways. You know they had to have a moment like this at some point during that time.

Nicely done. :)
jensengirl4eva chapter 1 . 11/3/2009
Beautiful just beautiful. Great story you can feel all the love Sammy has for Dean.
bhoney chapter 1 . 9/11/2009
"Dean can’t die! Not because he’s all I have left but because he’s the best thing I’ve ever had in this life. I let him down but he never let me down." I love how you portray Sam's feelings for his brother in this.

Other favorite parts:

"Seeing Jess on the ceiling, that was like a brutal knife stabbing into my heart. Learning Dean was dying, that was like the woman in white reaching into my chest to rip out my heart, as slowly and as painfully as she could manage, relishing my agony, savoring my despair, satisfied by my helplessness."

"“You think you’re interchangeable, you and Dad. While I can’t have Dad, I get you and when I can’t have you…” my voice broke apart and it took me a moment to get it together to continue, “you think my being with Dad is a fair exchange for not being with you. It’s not Dean. It never was.”" I loved this, because I think it's so true. I actually had Sam address this issue in a story I did, too.

"Finally I got through to him, slipped past his walls, and I had never seen him look more heartbroken. “Sam, don’t ask me for something I can’t give you,” his words were barely kept together by his resolve, my heart pierced by the pleading in his eyes." This broke my heart. Poor Dean. He really would be devastated by Sam making a plea he couldn't help with.

LOVED bossy, protective Sam, and the banter:

"“I’m not giving up on you, you hear me. Your damn story ends when I tell you it ends.”

“And when will that be,” Dean says a smirk in his voice.

“I think about eighty years from now,” I breathe, relishing in the banter that has been the staple of our brotherhood.

“Eighty years! Dude, I’ll be like one hundred and six years old!”

“What? Not long enough? Fine I’ll spot you another ten years,”" LOVELY!

"They say you can’t choose your family but God loved me enough to make Dean my brother. As far as gifts from above go, I’d say I got a billion dollar winning lottery ticket on that drawing. Faith. I didn’t have any when I was born and I found myself blessed with Dean. Who knew what miracles I could get if I stashed a little faith in my heart?" This was a beautiful ending. Love how you handled the portrayal of God, and the idea of Sam having faith. I think S2 especially showed us how much faith Sam has, and this was completely in character for him.

Nice job on this. Emotionally compelling, nice brotherly moments, as always. I'm favoriting it! :)

staceycj chapter 1 . 4/20/2008
I realize that this story was written in 06, however, it still fits even now wit the way Sammy is going after any lead that could break the deal. Fantastic story!
