Gorgeous story. You provide so much insight into each of the Winchesters, and I love how you did so through Sam's exploration of who he is (kicked of by simple homework assignment). Brilliant.

I really love the way you get into Sam's head here. How he feels about himself and what's going on around him. How he longs for normalcy without realizing it. Hunting, and how it's part of his life. Ugly bruising, hurt brother, emotionally shattered dad. But stripping it all down - I love what Sam came up with. "I am protected."

Loved this. Reminded me of some of my school projects from high school. God it's like all anybody wants to do is pretend they know you. I loved the tone of this, and your characterization of Sam and Dean was great. Seeing them both reflected through Sam's eyes was a nice touch. You get a touch of the guilt that Sam feels in the series but you get the confidence he has in his brother too. And John's obsession makes more sense when you see that everything for him is connected to Mary. You really nailed this one. Great work, and keep writing!

What a brilliant story! It starts off quiet and sweet, then slowly builds, then gives us incredible insight into all three Winchesters.

There were many lines and descriptions to love, but this one jumped off the page at me: He watches his older brother build himself up, bit by bit, assemble himself like a weapon, beat by beat, as the therapeutic thump of hard rock energizes him and gets him drumming his fingers on the steering wheel. I am amazed.

Supernatural Fan Fiction Monthly Awards Review: I enjoyed this glimpse of Sam's life growing up - both the good and the bad. Sam's struggle to define himself in the context of his world works well as a device to explore exactly what that world was like.
