Yay! A good writer! Your writing style is very similar to Trudi Canavan's, and your dialogue is very believable. The only thing is his diary - I can't quite imagine Dannyl having one. Also, I don't really remember anyting being called the High Magicians' Chambers. Do you mean the Magicians' Quaters?

The basic story seems very interesting, and although it is brief it's very intriguing, I'll definitely be reading on. However, that being said, I did spot a few issues which you could correct:

"Before Dannyl could register another thought, he was on his fist and striding towards Fergun."

He was on his fist, what? I think you mean feet ;) .

"Dannyl had expected everyone to have a good old laugh about it for a few days..."

As far as it occurred to be, being accused of being a lad in conservative Kyralia is a huge no-no. Maybe not as grave as being a lad in Sachaka, but still very bad. Especially given that Dannyl is still immature at this stage, I think he would be /very/ worried about this accusation.

Some minor grammatical errors that a simple proofread won't cure, other than these minor issues good start!

About the name of the novice: I believe that the only time that the story was repeated in full was when Dannyl told Tayend about it. When that happened, he refused to tell Tayend the boy's name. In short, I don't think that a name was ever given.

I just recently finished the BMT books and was suitably annoyed by the ending (I certainly do know what you mean about favorite characters dying and all that.) I was hoping to find some nice non-canon fanfics to make me feel better, however this seems to be the only BMT fanfic I've managed to dig up. I liked Dannyl so I'll be interested to see where this story goes, the fact that it's decently written gives you mega-bonus points in my opinion. Still I wish there were a few other authors in the BMT fandom that could sympathize with my craving for some Sonea/Akkarin. If you ever get bit of inspiration to write such, I'd be happy to take a look *wink.* I would suggest that you re-read this as I noticed a few typing errors, but they're nothing big and I've been awefully long-winded already so I won't point them out specifically here. I'll be eagerly awaiting your next chapter.
