mcepl chapter 9 . 12/19/2017 Lovely. Thank you. |
mcepl chapter 7 . 12/19/2017 Blodenheim is very German name, so I suspect it is not in Moravia. Bodenheim is in the west of Germany. But that is just a nitpick. I really like this. |
Ezmerelda chapter 9 . 10/31/2015 I was worried that it would all fall apart, or that something was going to happen to Marina, because of your warning. Thankfuly, the bad things you warned of were all in the past, and there's a happy ending for our protagonists. Not as beautiful, but still as dreamlike, as "A Romance, with Dragons." Thanks for writing! -"- |
nsunrider chapter 9 . 8/14/2011 I found this story on a recs site with a very positive review, and upon reading I agree that this is amazing. The writing is professional quality, and the bleak but not hopless atmosphere you develop and the intricate culture represented are both wonderful. |
saudade do coracao chapter 9 . 6/3/2011 I wasn’t going to read this even though I enjoyed “A Romance, with Dragons” so much, because I wasn’t all that interested in reading about Viktor. But after getting exasperated with the abundance of poorly written stories on this site, I decided to just give your first chapter a look. I don’t think I was expecting to read it all, but the atmosphere and Marina drew me right in. I read this story throughout the whole day, coming back to it after breaks for real life. This was so good! I can’t say how refreshing it is to read a well-constructed, well-written story here. Your writing is so lovely. I’ve gotten used to the present tense now, so much so that I think it is perfect for your characters and narrative. I love how well-thought-out this story is, like you knew where you were going right from the beginning, your little hints expanding into full storylines later. And your story has such a depth to it - your story vibrates with the feel of Eastern Europe. I really appreciate the atmosphere that all your research added up to. Marina is lovely too, so realistic and subtle and alive and feeling. I liked this story even better than “ARWD”, and that’s saying something. I can’t figure out how you manage to say so much with so little! This story was so good for me, and not just because I feel like I grew while reading it. It’s also because it shows me how much I need to work on my own writing. Constantly seeing the work of 13-year-olds rabidly trying to hook up characters is a boost for my writing morale, but it gives me an unrealistic opinion of my own writing. Your stories remind me how far I still have to come, and I appreciate that so much. I’m appalled at the lack of reviews this story and “ARWD” have. I’m sorry about that. To me, both are undiscovered gems in HP fan fiction. I’m personally of the opinion that you no longer write ff because you’re publishing original works somewhere now. I think you’re really that good. And no, I never leave completely positive, flattering reviews like this for anyone. I just wanted to thank you for sharing this, and this is the best way I know how. So thank you, and I hope you’re still continuing to write, wherever you are now in life. |
dustbowls chapter 5 . 7/1/2009 Again, I love the deal with Viktor and muggle technology. The whole untranslatable-joke issues with George and how Marina sees him as "rather strange" just made my day. Mr. Weasley was amazing too, even in just the 1-2 sentences you used to describe his behavior. XD I love this story. It's all the little details that make it so great. |
openwindow chapter 1 . 5/31/2009 hahaha nvm about my first review...found the sequel lol. |
Pogonotrophy chapter 9 . 4/17/2008 Oh that was simply wonderful. I loved it, simply loved it. Your characterisations were flawless, your style impeccable, your research thorough. This was just about perfect. You have such an amazing talent. |
A. Meril chapter 9 . 3/24/2008 I think this is the most realistic meshing of the real world and the Wizarding world that I've ever seen. Great, great job with the research: it makes this story a true gem. The OCs are, again, flawless, the canon characters are in character, there are fascinating observations on wizarding society, and it's brilliantly plotted! What more could I ask for? I'm so glad that a friend recommended your stories a few days ago: they've all been a pleasure to read. :) |
ShortySC22 chapter 9 . 11/14/2007 This was a lovely story with a really well-rounded original character. Great job on Viktor's character too. |
satelliteblues21 chapter 9 . 6/19/2007 Amazing! Just like to thank you for a wonderful read and to urge for a continuation on in this 'verse. thanks mate |
