Congratulations first on writing story number 100!

Favorite parts? Too many to mention all, but I liked the silent observation by Mark that some of Milt's friends were bluntly disapproving of the ex-con.

I loved this bit: There was no way he was telling this old donkey that he thought he was sitting next to a pretty fair guy, himself. That was the sort of thing that would surely come back around to bite him in the butt.

But the one that really hit me was "It's just that nothing was going to keep me out, Judge. You were going, so I was going. They didn't stand a chance."

Another winner! Keep 'em comin'!

Very nice to see the Judge payed up and Mark did a nice thing with the money. Another wonderful, well written story.

Hi. Good story. I loved it. Left me with a laugh.
DixieDavenport chapter 1 . 12/5/2005
Loved it. Nice wrap up. Besides if memory serves me correctly, didn't Mark say the money wasn't the important part of the job he was only working for the experience. So, he was 'working' for free, so they shouldn't have turned him down.

owlcroft chapter 1 . 12/5/2005
Oh, that's good - very good indeed! Natural conversation and behavior, clearing up a couple of things left hanging; a pure pleasure to read. And it's not just a great tag to an episode, but a hint of a story to come. Thanks for another jewel of a story!
L.M.Lewis chapter 1 . 12/5/2005
'This probably wasn’t the time to tell Hardcastle about the odd acquaintance or two that were civil in the judge’s presence, but, in his absence, were bluntly disapproving of the ex-con.'

Oh, but you will find the right time to tell us that story eventually, won't you, Cheri?

In the meantime, what a delightful little epilogue with some classic revelations, not to mention flawless Hardcastle logic like:

"If you opened it, you wouldn’t have to ask." and,

"What’s a real bet? . . . You said 'I bet you', I said 'okay'; doesn’t that make it a bet?"

And some equally irrefutable McCormickian reasoning such as:

'There was no way he was telling this old donkey that he thought he was sitting next to a pretty fair guy, himself. That was the sort of thing that would surely come back around to bite him in the butt.' and,

'You were going, so I was going. They didn’t stand a chance.'

Now I want to see you write an epilogue for "What's So Funny?" ;-)

Hi Cheri,

You can never be too rich, too thin or have too many tags for an episode! *VBG*

Nice little wrap-up to that epi. I love that the Judge paid up, and really loved that Mark suggested a way to accept that was acceptible to them both.

Oh and the Jazzmaster comment was extra sweet!

Thanks for sharing this with us,
