He had found Miss Parker's gun abandoned in an alleyway.

At first he had suspected the worst but a quick examination, before hiding the gun, had revealed it wasn't even loaded. Given the circumstances he was inclined to believe Miss Parker had decided to leave the Centre.

this feels like the beginning of a romantic comedy. The opened ended route is nice too, it leaves it up to the imagination. However, in this case I would have enjoyed seeing where you could have take it.

Wow! I want to tell you again that this fanfic is fabulously well written. The turn of the sentences makes them even more realistic and powerful. I really love Miss Parker's answers in this chapter. It's a side of her that I love very much and that we don't often in fanfiction. She isn't too spiteful, but just enough. I'm eager to know if she will take Jarod back to the Centre. I would love, but I don't think it's what you've planed. So, post the next chapter as soon as you can, please.
