By far the best Karai fic I've ever read. I love how you fleshed out her character in very concrete ways-through her longing for a dress, or her secretly playing a video game (FFVI!). Her mixed feelings felt very tangible to me.

Btw, 希望 does mean hope but it's pronounced "kibou." "Nozomi" is written 望み (although in a name it would probably be written differently). It's a good name for Karai in this story-it's a sweet, feminine name.

Shame it has so few replies! This story is great! It kept me at the edge of my seat.

Great story! I never expected the ending you added, though I have to admit that I did feel disappointed in how the ending in the cartoons turned out. What you added to this story is more of what I had hoped would happen in the cartoons. You said that you did not follow your normal rule to 'respect the characters', however I did not see much in this story that was out of character. ;) Karai did what she should have done for a long time, even if it did seem slightly out of character for her. The way you portrayed her thoughts added a nice dimension to the story, though I would have liked to see more action with the Turtles. ;)

I agree completely with your views on Karai...it pains me when characters have so much potential that remains untapped. And when inconsistancies keep the viewer from ever gaining any real insight into their psyche. It's because of this that I've never been a Karai "fan" so to speak - but this story took away the things that kept me from liking her, and turned my view around. No small feat my friend. Genius, even.

You did an excellent job with this. Your use of supporting characters in your writing is truly commendable. I have to tell you, I got very excited when I saw an alert for you in my mailbox...because I knew that it would be a gem.

Great story. I really liked it. I, too, was disappointed in what Karai did in the series. I really hoped she would come to her senses and get rid of Shredder. Instead, she had to stab my favorite Turtle! Oh, well, I'm glad she's good here. I'm guessing Shredder killed her parents, and that's why she killed him. Can't blame her. I would too. Anyway, this story rocked. Write another good one. You are a good writer.

You did amazingly well with this, and I think it fits perfectly with what Karai's character SHOULD be. I found the little insights into her life to be endearing and well within the bounds of probability. I also loved how Chaplain came into play during this fic, becoming the catalyst for her ultimate decision, and how you kept us guessing at the outcome till almost the last moment.
