Reviews for Now and Then
Susan M. M chapter 2 . 5/20/2019
Hogan is too good a soldier, too good an officer to ever betray any man under his command. Any man who was ever under his command, no matter how long ago.
Ted Villalon chapter 11 . 9/8/2016
I just finished this HH short story. Brilliantly done! I am happy that some fans are continuing the story. Thanks.
Jess chapter 1 . 4/10/2009
just found this fanfic and was interested in the premise. I am wondering though... why the 504th? That was a pacific based B-17 unit. Why not the 305th or 306th bomb groups...they were both part of the 40th Bomb wing and stationed within the European theater during the time in question.

Overall, you are generally historically accurate and I greatly enjoy your work. It has the edge of believability that many other fan fictions lack.
ColHogan chapter 11 . 10/30/2008
Just read this enire story for the first time. I LOVED it! It was difficult seeing the Colonel being mentally broken by that slime, but i loved the plan the heroes came up with to save Hogan and Carter. An I'm glad that sadistic creep got what he deserved. Also, this story shows the fierce loyalty of Hogan's men not only to the Colonel but for each other. Great story!

I love this whole story. I've already read it several times!

How does it feel tohave lost everything? Linda you have done a great job in this entire story showing the Gestapo brutality, both physical and psychological and also the bond between Hogan and his team and also respect from all the prisoners. It was also refreshing to read London's bomber unit and Dennison's surprise at his unexpected discovery. His decision may have given him sleepless nights but it proved him in good stead. I enjoyed reading this immensely, very well done and thank you, Teresa
trissa chapter 10 . 1/15/2006
What a close call for Robert and what a panic for medic Joe. And poor Carter - his anger justified and his innocence priceless.
trissa chapter 9 . 1/15/2006
A plan very well orchestrated. Oberholzer may need a little time to get his head around the 'loyalty' issue. The boys' concern at their Colonel's state - even if it was all planned was very well written and Newkirk's choices for Oberholzer - only enhanced by his concern for his Colonel and his hatred of this man. Very well written, as always.
ClassicDreamer chapter 11 . 1/9/2006
Wow! Just finished this story and I have to say that you really captured the spirit of the characters well. Colonel Hogan's thoughts are exactly what you would expect of him. I loved that peak you gave us into his psyche. Keep writing stuff like this. It's marvelous.
Kits chapter 11 . 1/2/2006
Hogan smiled patiently and looked out his window. Suddenly he was standing in the middle of the compound at Stalag 13, and another young man, a prisoner of war, was standing in rags. ā€œI’m cold, sir.ā€

Wow. You know, I've been noticing rewatching the series how Hogan takes all of the flak when things go wrong, how he's constantly buffering the men from Klink and the guards, and how he shepherds them-like in "The Swing Shift" episode, at the end you can see him putting himself between Klink and his men. It's great to see that in fanfiction, too, how he not only runs a great mission, but takes care of his men, too. Part of the reason that the line I quoted and the line about "taking care of his boys" were so alike. I really love it when it shows how he's the dad, he's the protector, he's the papa bear.

Very sweet touch.

The ending was subtle, but with a lot of impact. Yeah, he's got something different, and it's just as good. Love the way they look after him just as much as he looks after them. You did a great job of balancing that in this one.

I really, really liked it.

Now get started on the next one, missy. ;)

Cheers,

Kits

There is so much that I like about this whole story, but I especially enjoyed how it showcased Hogan's inner battles, as well as his men's care for him and each other. Wonderfully done all around, Linda!
ML Miller Breedlove chapter 11 . 12/23/2005
Very nice ending! He's still taking care of his men, whether it's long underwear or teaching them to land a B-17. :)That's OUR Colonel! Now, I happen to know you wouldn't be without another story gem for us...so I'll be impatiently waiting! ;)
Stormyrose chapter 11 . 12/22/2005
Aw, that's good.
GSJessica chapter 11 . 12/21/2005
A fine conclusion. I liked that Dennison got to know the identity of Papa Bear. I guess Oberholzer got smooshed in the factory. Nice job.
