Praetor-Canis chapter 17 . 5/18/2019
So this is what the good Senator Organa has planned, eh? Abandon his people and planet after dragging them into a rebellion against the Empire without asking for their consent. And he actually has the audacity to be smug about it? Does Organa think that Vader won’t do anything to his family and people once he himself escapes?

Just what kind of democracy does Organa truly represent and wish to establish? The one where Core Worlds are of the utmost importance and strips the Outer Rims of their resources? Organa’s not even an elected official? Has he even considered what his people choose when given the options of “destroyed planet” over “remaining loyal”?
Guest chapter 16 . 5/16/2019
*snorts* What if a system doesn’t agree with the Empire’s laws? Last time I checked, the Republic’s laws aren’t passed with unanimous voting either. Nor are the senators actually elected by the people of their respective planets.

Only half or two-thirds are needed for a motion to pass in the Senate, no? So anywhere from a third to half of the systems would grumble and disagree with practically any given law. Sometimes the grumbling would turn to violence between systems. Or else why the Clone Wars erupt? Was it all because of Palps? But the sad thing about the Republic is that on top of the disagreements, there’s no security or support to be had either. Padme’s reasoning is just as flawed in this argument. reasoning
Praetor-Canis chapter 16 . 5/16/2019
Padme’s argument is pretty flawed too. It’s not a unanimous vote is needed for every laws passed in the Republic either. Only more than half is needed for a motion to pass, no? So the other half would either stand to lose something or grumble.
The argument that Vader should be making is that, although there will always be Star systems that disagree with a law or two. The Republic’s ineffectiveness and bureaucracy makes it nearly impossible for the Galactic government to guarantee the safety and peace of those in favor too. Such as we see in TPM with Naboo, such as what happened in the Clone Wars.
