It really says something about the human spirit that even Zack who has been through hell can hope against hope and reach for something better. This is the saddest and most poignant insight into Zack that I have read. Your story made me cry for Zack and all those people whose tortured lives make them question the possibility that there can be faith and love and mercy in the world.

Wow. That was so deep and profound. Did you really write it at 2:30am? I thought that was incredibly well written and thought out. I especially liked the way you broke the paragraphs up with the verses from the Lord's Prayer. The characterisation was spot-on in my opinion, very true to the character and their cynical nature. The last paragraph also leaves you wondering if he truly believes all that he had said and that he maybe holds on to some small glimmer of the things he wishes he did not feel. A thoroughly enjoyable read which I'm glad you shared with us. Hope you write more fics soon.
