You know I think you're brilliant, but every time I read and re-read your work it stuns me all over again. You embellished these characters so exquisitely. I think one of my favourite bits in this-although I have a lot, and they're always changing as with everything, you know-is the old line of Thingol's that flashes over Elrond's mind: "Unhappy men, children of little lords and brief kings, shall such as these lay hands on you, and yet live?" Besides the poetry Tolkien infused into that line, it really puts into perspective Elrond's torment.

Elrond is too often painted flatly, as either far too good and accomodating to Aragorn and Arwen's romance, or a Thingol-like despot who loathes Aragorn-but you balanced between those perfectly, with your picture of a man-or Elf, rather-who is torn by his regrets for his daughter and the man he raised as a son, and his wishes for their happiness, for the future of Middle-earth, and for what he knows is right.

(Now do write the rest, really, or I shall have to send Tevvie after you, even if you do own half of him. -)

Astonishing...absolutely astonishing. This was excellent...I can't in words desribe Elrond's POV...wow.
