So touching and sweet. Shikamaru is one of my favourite characters, and I love that the supernatural element isn't overdone - "less flashy" than I'd expected, to borrow your own phrase. A lovely little one-shot!

To see Shikamaru helping a boy he barely knows (as lazy as he normally is) is very nice indeed. The story is well-written. I really like how you show the other side of Shikamaru outside duty.

This is easily the best one-shot centered around a character who isn't Naruto, and isn't focused on the 'shinobi world'. It might be (I have a bad memory for 'absolute favorites') one of the best Shikamaru-centric one-shots I recall reading, and I can say with confidence it's easily one of the best Naruto-fanfic one-shots I've read.

Shikamaru feels very real in this. Lazy, hates working, bitches about it to himself, but...when he (however unluckily) stumbles on something important that needs doing, he does it.

Poor Takeru. He felt real, too, and isn't that an ironic thing to say about a fictitious ghost character?;)

I liked how vengeance on the aunt and uncle wasn't really a part of this story...it just wouldn't fit.

Oh, that is entirely random in a way, and yet very meaningful as well. Although Shikamaru has never really been one of my favourite characters, you've given him a depth and heart here that helps me to really appreciate him.
