Reviews for Another Unlikely Divergence of the Soul
whitesheets chapter 40 . 8/19/2007
This is truly a magnificent story. I am speechless. Please tell me that there will be an update. This really is good and it would be such a shame if you do not complete this story. You have real talent. I liked how you managed to include E/G in such a real setting. It was wonderful, the way you wrote this story, by switching the points of view of the characters in the story.

I also liked the way you had Madame Giry react to the wedding dress. It was really a good touch that convinces us readers that she does love him although she hides behind the concern facade. The reason she is concerned is because she loves him. Erik is also a complex and interesting persona. I cannot decide at the moment if he loves Christine or that it is merely infatuation with her innocent gait. It is intriguing to see Erik struggle between Erik and his Phantom. It can be seen that it is the same person. The only difference being that the Phantom is the outlet of Erik's many frustrations and insecurities.

Christine however, is not as annoying as one might be inclined to make her in an Erik/Giry fic. I hope that I am not mistaken to assume that this fic is such. She is written very well here and quite true to the character. I must admit that I only found it just now and I sat through the whole afternoon reading it because it is a really fascinating piece. I should think you are a very immaculate writer with an eye for detail.

The character that I find most interesting in of course my favourite character in the entire story of the Opera Ghost. Madame Giry. Her emotions are interesting to read about as she is confused about her emotions and feelings for Erik. She tries not to think about them as she goes through the days. I loved the way you portrayed her.

I think I have said enough and I should stop here or you are bound to be annoyed. ;o) It's seldom that I write such long (boring?) reviews unless I am really captured by the story. I should think that this would be the longest review I have ever written for anyone and when I have the time on my hands. And I think I really am captured by yours. I do hope that there will be an update. I am praying for one because it would simply be cruel to leave this spectacular story hanging. Thanks for sharing this wonderful fic. Good job! ;o)

*adds to alert list* In case you update. ;o)

And if you should update, I will most definitely review for you. Again, thanks for sharing.

It's 5am, my eyes are burning and I'm still reading. I love this story, and I love the different threads of narrative. I'm interested to see how they'll be tied together. Ooh 32 more chapters! :D
froomiest bandersnatch chapter 39 . 8/28/2006

I did love this chapter! And was so excited to see the update :)

I only found it odd that Madame Giry beleived Erik when he said that the dress was only a costume.

Anyways...AMAZING work here, as always. :D

This story only gets more and more entertaining.
auricolet chapter 38 . 7/7/2006
I was so thrilled to see you had updated! This story is like a drug...addicting! I love how you detailed every part of Erik's home, sort of letting us in on how he lives daily life.

My favorite lines: At first glance, it had appeared her eyes were open. Now I saw that she had no eyes—they were cavernous black holes into the interior of the head. The image chilled me, from my skull all the way down my spine.

It had no hair, and it had no eyes, but it was Christine, and scarily so.

And he had her in a wedding dress.

This sets up a prediction of sorts, and it holds that sort of good old-fashioned horror that was present in Leroux's version. Well done!

"Oh, and another thing—I am usually an extremely careful speller, but I have decided (even though I am an American) to use the European spelling of several words and terms, like story/storey, maneuver/manoevre, traveled/travelled, favor/favour, eager/eagre, and others. I just think the European way looks much more authentic for a tale such as this. Very beautiful"

Just a little "heads-up" as it were. I know it's really difficult when it comes to using alternate spelling, but here in Europe "Story" when you mean a fictional work is still spelt story. Storey in the UK means a level of a building - eg "building x was 4 storeys high". "Eager" is also still spelt that way both in the UK and in it's translation from other European languages. I look forward to reading the rest of your story, hopefully when my computer is being a bit more compliant lol.

I had previously attempted to read this work, attracted by the 'EG' in the summary. I found myself daunted by the length and skill of this piece and dropped the idea. As I attempted once more to read this marvelous masterpiece, I found myself drawn in as I had not been before. You spin a complex and beautiful tale that I cannot hope to surpass. Well done, and I eagerly await an update.

Yours truly,

novitas

Yay! *dances* An update! I love Christines defiance in the end...it gives her a bit more elaboration, but stays in character. Very nice!

I eageryly await more!

Cryptic at the end there...but I was sad to finish the chapter! It seems he will be in for a rather nasty surprise once Raoul comes along...

Great job! Keep it up!
