clamp fan 1 chapter 10 . 12/4/2012
I read this very quickly after the first chapter and keep bringing it up to re read. You know what would make me so very happy? Start writing a sequel! :D

Sorry to pick apart your story again...but water is not always a safe thing to break your fall with; in fact, Kazahaya most likely would have died as soon as he hit the water's surface tension. Even a controlled fall (feet first) of 80' into water is dangerous enough and not to be attempted by an amature; an uncontrolled fall would most likely be deadly, because at high velocity if you don't hit the water in a perfect pencil-dive (feet first with toes pointed, body perfectly aligned and rigid), then you can't cut through the surface tension and the effect on the body is not significantly different from hitting cement (maybe less skin abraision).

The ceiling height standard in the victorian era was 13' multiplied by three stories that's 39' plus however much of the fourth story the roof doesn't cover, the distance from the ground to the first floor (probably around 3'), the thickness of each ceiling/floor (1' or more); add the cliff, which is unlikely to be shorter than the house, and it's highly probable that Kazahaya fell far enough that he hit the water at a high enough velocity for the impact to kill him in his uncontrolled state. Even if he survived, he would not have gotten away unscathed; there'd be a lot of broken bones and in all likelihood internal bleeding as well. Never mind that he also would have been smashed against the cliff face by the waves, regardless of which way the tide was going.

I don't know... I know it's just a story and you're probably only doing it for fun and it never occurred to you that it was something that warrented research (not to mention hollywood ignores things like this all the time), but I just can't come across something like this and _not_ say something about it.

Yeah, just as I thought; it should be a phrase book, not a dictionary.
BloodRaevynn chapter 3 . 5/23/2009
It would be pretty much impossible to learn to speak Japanese, even just a few phrases, from a Japanese-English dictionary. Dictionaries only present the "dictionary" forms of the words (no tenses) and don't even mention things like conjugation or prepositions. To learn the mechanics of a language, you need a grammar dictionary; to learn common phrases, you need a phrase book.
