Absolutely amazing! Loved it. I liked how you kept with the automail theme throughout it and didn't stray off topic. I also can't stand the really stupid, overdramatic romance, and so I thought this was just wonderful. It's as if you've taken the silly annoyance out of Ed and Winry's relationship and left behind something that's purely them. And for some reason, the part that keeps replaying in my mind is the casual way Ed proposes.

Aside from I absolutely adore 'Pieces' there's something about it that's haunting... and the ending brought tears to my eyes.

Lovely. Pro level and potent. Good writing, good story conception and telling, good pacing and delivery, the works. I'm an intense reader and have studied writing for years, so I do know what I'm saying. I can't really find any rough spots - you posted it a while ago, so I guess you've been ironing it on and off. Nice play on their relationship - working with the auto-mail theme. Taking things established by the original and expanding them like this is one of the things I feel truly justifies fanfiction and makes it an art. Anyway, nice piece.

I really like Winry's character here; too many people picture her as dependant and demanding, and she really isn't. She loves him, but she's her own person and she's his friend, too, and you illustrate that perfectly.
