BAMM! The unexpected twist at the end. As a writer I have to compliment you for this. Through your story I was nver sure wether they'd make it or not and if Kuja would live if they did. But close to the ending I thought he'd survive (at least for some time) but the last sentence - Right after the Line 'I choose to live' - just flipped everything upsidedown again. As a writer, i have to say it was a great thing to do.

As a reader though, I have to say it shocked me and made me shout out loud "No!" followed by the though 'You can't do that! Not NOW!'

As a writer AND reader, I can tell you that I enjoyd reading your story a lot.

Beautifully written- shorter than I usually read but nevertheless excellent. The struggle to escape is well-written and the reader can really feel the desperation and exhaustion of the characters. And the ending- wow! I like to (almost subconsciously) guess the ending to a story I'm reading, but I never expected that! It's like a punch to the stomach, but somehow makes the whole story worthwhile. It almost made me spontaneously burst into tears :)

Well, then. I simply love your story. With the feeling and the description, it was like watching a movie (a movie with an awesome song playing in the background. A Perfect Circle is my idol...) Very awesome. The ending line was so perfect, too. Isn't life just like that? Very awesome, very perfect, very one of my favorites. ;) Good job.

Yes, yes, YES! I loved the whole fic, and the ending was just /perfect/. Your characterization was nearly flawless, the angst didn't seem cheap, and I could practically feel my heart bleed. :] Plus, you do have a good writing style.

The funny thing is, I generally can't stand songfics - because they concentrate too much on songs' lyrics and are not too deep, anyway. Well, in your fic's case, it was different: the lyrics only complemented (what's the English word, again? T_T) the story, which could've easily stood on its own. In other words, even if we take the song out, your fic won't be empty. Great job, really. ...Not to mention, 'Gravity' is just perfect for this. :]

Oh, and here goes some constructive criticism for you:

First of all, I doubt Zidane would really put a /blade/ into his mouth, no matter how desperate he was. The part with the corners of his mouth bleeding sounded like a piece of cheap, fangirlish angst (fanservive?) to me. :] Sure, I realize that putting a hilt into your mouth would've been equally difficult (if not impossible), but the whole scene seemed rather far-fetched.

Secondly, Kuja's transition from 'just let me die' to 'I will fight for my life' seemed a bit too abrupt - one mentioning of Garland, and he's ready to go... then again, if we consider the ending... the /real/ reason behind his sudden burst of energy... [*eyes water*] then perhaps there's nothing wrong with that part, after all.

Well, screw this complaing: my happy, inner fangirl loved your fic to death. :D

I never usually review on fanfics.. But this one I feel I have to.

It was beautiful, the whole thing. The characters were portrayed PERFECTLY. To my standards anyway. I loved the descriptions of their surroundings. Their thoughts. The song. I even went to download it. I like the lyrics. But the speed is a little too slow for me.

Your story had me crying by the end. I really loved it.

Lovely job! I just recently finished the game (and I actually only watched somebody play the whole time). This was very beautifully written. I believe this should best be described as "bittersweet." Kuja made it out of the Iifa tree; he did not die there and therefore Garland did not have control of him until the very end. It was sad that he had to die, but we all have our time. Congratulations for making me tear up; This is the first of my 'favorite stories'.
