You wrapped it all up nicely. The hidden family history bit was a surprise, but it makes sense in hindsight.

Umm, this is really good. I've been avoiding it cuz it's AU but I'm so glad now that I've read it.

I absolutely hands down adore this story. One of the top Ruroken stories, hell any fanfiction, I've ever read. It is so vivid and easy to picture mentally - one of those where I forget I'm even reading and am oblivious to those around me. Battousai as a sentient sword was brilliant and reminiscent of Need from the Valdemar series, yet less crotchety old woman ;-) The story also made me sentimental for some Vampire the Masquerade campaigns, despite having not played in over ten years. Beautifully done!

Am I just imagining that there used to be a sequel to this?

Great start! Love the idea.
Easy to read and understand, though the way it's written it was a little bit hard to follow. But it didn't take long to get used to it.

Ahhhh this was so good! It ended at a really nice spot, I don't feel super confused or like there are too many threads left hanging, but I still want more because it is _Interesting_ and I loved it!

This is fantastic! The pacing and flow are excellent and characters are well written and well voiced. It's absolutely worth reading 5 times.

Oooohh my god you're writing is forever on point, even if it's stuff from more than a decade ago. In canon, Kenshin struggles a lot with the guilt of being a killer; it's nice to see one universe in which he makes some kind of peace with himself. Probably helps that Battousai is like a live-in friend who can help you deal with your problems lol.
